A marvellous mate made me a NY Sushi inspired playlist. Any of you clever people able to transfer it to Qobuz? 😘

I miss Twitter circa 2012. I could have had a long discussion about this instead of writing in my notes app...

A visit to someone I've known all my life who won't be around much longer. A call to say a family member had died. Today has been a lot.

Tell someone you love them. Do it now.

Lived 11 doors away from these fellas in 1981 just before tainted love was big.

Bye Dave. I loved Non Stop Erotic Cabaret.

The annual report from Kinship Charity that highlights aspects of my life. Although some things are improving it's hit and miss.

It was only yesterday that we received another no, that means one of our kids wont get the support they need.

Really interesting thread.
Should the question be 'What do you have for tea'

Having code switched across my life, I maintain that asserting Spaghetti Hoops on toast is a perfectly acceptable evening meal, sorts the wheat from the chaff.

😉
It's fascinating how much of English analysis of class get reduced to 'what do you have for your dinner?' I like to think that were my mining ancestors alive they'd be thinking 'fair play to folks these days there's loads more choices of what to eat and where than i had'.
"It's genuinely hard to imagine today's Labour activists going to a northern fish and chip shop" is a really self-incriminating sentence. Yeah, when I sit down in The Scrap Box in York or, frankly, anywhere in Whitby, I think 'I can't imagine a middle class person eating here'.

I cannot stomach this ongoing pattern of women, especially working class women and WOC, facing consequences for corruption, and rich white men who have been born with only the best untarnished silver crockery rammed into every orifice prancing away scot-free.

get why she had to go but irksome she lost her job to something quite complex and, let's be honest, reasonably minor in the grand scheme of things, when shadow cabinet members get to merrily hang out with Eddie Swastika without any repercussions

Plus, the absolute breakdown of a care system. One that doesn't centre care.
What we're dealing with is the results of collapsing Sure Start, punishing local austerity, an exodus from mainstream schools with no adequate funding of specialist settings, a mental health crisis that ballooned on their watch , and more. Not 'overdiagnosis'. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...
Young people being ‘overdiagnosed’ with mental ill health – Hunt
The former health secretary argued that society has ‘lost sight of the fundamental reality that child development is a messy and uneven process’.

having thought about this for three days, my current status is:

what the FUCK are we doing trying to ban social media for kids and not banning AI use? we are literally telling them not to use the computer to talk to their real friends but instead to the imaginary technology monetisable 'friends'.
this makes me suspect that one of the routes that AI companies are aiming at is targeting young people. anything that existed when you were a kid feels normal and indispensable. especially if you always used AI to write all your essays for you. and to comfort you when your parents were arguing.
