One of the most important things I was taught while being trained as a legal observer is that we point the camera away from action participants as much as possible. We only record the police and counter-protestors if we can help it. The state too often uses footage of protestors against them.
"document everything" puts innocent people at risk because the state cares not that they have done nothing illegal. they will use OSINT from the video you took of a crowd with faces visible to identify people to prosecute.

I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...

You could actually structure your moral code around the idea that law enforcement doesn't exist to execute people. You don't have to create perfect victim narratives, you can just refuse to accept that the state gets to kill people.
