This week, the City Council held a historic hearing on the Community Land Act, Backed by 150+ community groups, it would empower CLTs and nonprofits to expand permanently affordable housing in low-income and Black and brown neighborhoods.

The task force should return to its mandate and propose meaningful alternatives. That includes prioritizing early intervention in the foreclosure process and allowing city agencies—not private speculators—to step in.
