This - this is what I wanted to explore with my Substack allkindsmusick.substack.com

But I don't think it's something I can do by myself, precisely because of the biases I needed to overcome.

Sometimes the damage that people do to each other isn't something visible. And no one owes you their story - especially if it hurts them.
As hard as it is for a family historian to leave things alone, that is sometimes the only compassionate choice.

I need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.

President Trump's ongoing attempts to use the military for law enforcement endangers public safety and our rights.

Tell your Senator to co-sponsor a bill that will limit domestic military deployments and enhance oversight.
Congress: U.S. Troops are Not the President's Personal Police Force
Military troops do not belong on our streets and should never be used to police civilians. The Senate must protect our freedoms and pass the Military in Law Enforcement Accountability Act now.

The tools we have for tracking what we know (or think we know) about our ancestors can be great - but when we don't have information that can be fully supported with evidence, adding a new hypothetical relationship can be tricky.
