The flip side of this is knowing that even though you own it, cosmically you're just renting it... my house is 100+ years old, many people have owned it before me, and I can only assume many will after me, and they will also get the pleasure of the furnace dying in the winter...

I also like how he doesn't get how quotes work, like, pretty sure the island was a literal island, not like a peninsula they called an island...

You should immediately resign as minority leader since you couldn't even get your caucus to hold out for ONE thing to end the shutdown during the first week the Democrats have had anything resembling good news in months. You folded totally and completely, shame on you.

Also, it's not just having the political opinions, but the fact that the people with the bad opinions tend to be loud and annoying about them. I would bet infinity dollars that she was being turbo obnoxious to her friends about this stuff when they just wanted to chill.

A Mighty Wind has a number of great songs that were supposed to be popular, at least in folk circles! "A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow" is great!

They should let FG kickers have an isolation tent where they can play video games during the game, and they only come out to kick without any awareness of the game situation... this way you can remove nerves from the equation entirely, every kick has the exact same (unknown) stakes.

That's ~630 times at home games throughout the season, plus practice, those poor band kids are going to have that song permanently playing on loop at all times in their heads.

The answer is “we did it because we could, because we’re in power and the most our opponents will do is demand answers which, who cares?”

Come on, you’re my representative, what answers? This is a ridiculous violation of the constitution file articles of impeachment immediately, this “we want answers” stuff is embarrassing.

The "if you understand deep inside that I'm right" gives the game away when the advice is "become a prompt engineer". I'm confident no one knows exactly *how* AI will disrupt things long term, it's still just a catch-all boogeyman, but everyone just makes wild-ass guesses about the future of work.

The problem with any system is that it relies on people executing it... you could have all the system in the world but if the people in charge of running it are just like "lol the president is a king" then the president is a king, there's no way to make a self-enforcing system!

Iowa’s average punt distance was 7.3 cornfields, which is 12.7 nautical miles or 1.0 Culvers

So Iowa is actually the furthest away in absolute distance then huh

Of course to be fair, the 90's ended with 9/11, so by that metric, it's a 90's song
April 5, 2025 at 5:01 AM
Fuckin' insane that Teenage Dirtbag was not technically a 90's song (came out in 2000) it's clearly from 1996 in spirit.
