An engineer. Virginian. I have two dogs.

Ask me why so many fade, but I’m still here.
Pinned
One of my dogs recently started doing this thing where she stands by the back door and looks out, like she has to pee. But when I get up and go to the door, she immediately turns around and jumps into the seat I was in because that’s what she wanted all along.
I forgot to tell the cashier at chick fil a not to give me the kids meal toy, but it turns out that they’re doing foreign language learning games.

This one is about names of animals in vietnamese.

I could be wrong, but I’m just going to take a guess at which house is the subject of this report

I was over by the temporary casino in Norfolk the other day, and it’s such an afterthought. Literally a “we’re here so we don’t get fined” situation.

Suzy has apparently developed anxiety about sleeping in her bedroom at night.

I thought she might have been complaining about pain the last few nights, but I’ve been sleeping with her on the couch and it’s not that.

I do think that newspapers allowing comments on their news articles was (and is) a terrible decision. It devalued the work of their reporters and turned each article into a top level message board post.
February 16, 2026 at 5:11 PM
Back when the newspaper used to have comments on each article, I told some guy to stop being a pedant as he kept complaining that the article didn’t refer to the holiday by its official name of George Washington Day.

Although now I’m kind of coming around to calling it that myself.

I don’t really understand how surge pricing would work when you’re in the store. Is there a specific time when people could pick up an item, physically put it in their cart, and the price would change between then and when you check out?
(5/11) Walmart, Whole Foods, and Kohls are switching to electronic shelf labels that can display dynamic prices. Kroger deployed them with Microsoft AI—a setup a 2024 Senate inquiry warned could enable “surge pricing” via facial recognition. (Kroger claims it will only lower prices.)

Tyler Reddick got a fucking run on that last lap

Today I finally closed my Wells Fargo account, which I opened with my first summer job in 1999 (when it was wachovia).

After explaining to the guy why I decided to close my account, he then tried to sell me on a new credit card with them. I told him no thanks.
The last straw with WF for me was when they ended their mid-tier checking accounts “to better serve their customers” last month.

Not that I need the $0.02/month interest or do a lot of money orders (which had been free but aren’t anymore), but it’s the principle.
i am not saying any big banks are good
but the fuck is up with wells fargo
just always something fucked up going on there

There are six people in the office today. The guy who usually brings donuts on Fridays got two dozen again, but this time one of the boxes is valentines-themed.

I am in favor of sending our most annoying local tv reporters to follow ice agents around and ask them that they’re doing

I see our arbitrary and capricious government has found a new way to disrupt life for millions of Americans
The FAA is closing the airspace around El Paso International Airport in Texas for 10 days, grounding all flights to and from the airport, for “special security reasons."

The FAA's notice did not provide additional details.

As someone who gets a PSA test every year, certain things can elevate levels.

I had to get rechecked one year because the year to year difference was more than expected. It wasn’t great. (That was also the year I got three cystoscopy procedures done, also not great.)

I would need to see a better resolution pic, but it looks like a stormwater retention basin. Which you would need if you covered a lot of previously grassed areas with tents.

It’s such a downfall, but definitely the right decision. They need a clean slate to redevelop.

This occurred during his first term as well, when it was known that bongino (and whoever else) also had access to his twitter account.

The tweets were considered official statements, but nobody really talked about how they could be validated. Because they can’t.
Haven't seen this angle mentioned, but it's an extraordinary national security risk to have an anonymous "staffer" impersonating the president of the United States, posting racist memes, from his personal accounts, at 10 PM.

I would feel better about the 2nd district if they had made it look more like the pre-2022 lines. But of course Luria would be favored this year.
🚨🚨🚨New Virginia map is out

Possible frontrunners for each district

VA-1 Vindman

VA-2 Luria

VA-3 Scott

VA-4 McClellan

VA-5 Taylor

VA-6 Perriello

VA-7 Unclear?

VA-8 Beyer?

VA-9 Unclear?

VA-10 Subramanyam

VA-11 Walkinshaw?

100% if anyone is truly concerned about election administration and have the time, you can serve as an official at a polling location. You learn so much from it, too.
as i keep saying, the things to do to secure elections are to volunteer to work the polls or to serve as an observer, & to pressure your *state representatives* to take steps to further secure voting locations and ballots. you should also learn about how election administration works in your area.
