Last night I had a giant bowl of Ramen (supporting immigrant-owned restaurants in Minneapolis 💪) followed by half a bag of Dove chocolates. This morning I ran my fastest mile ever. I have clearly discovered a formula for success I will have no problem repeating. QED.

Update: this morning I found a way to spend some quiet, warm time playing Rollercoaster Tycoon while also emerging victorious over ice. Take care of yourselves, fellow Twin Cities folks!
January 25, 2026 at 3:32 PM
I want to be playing Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic in my jammies, but instead I'm dressed like I'm on the Weddell Sea with Earnest Fucking Shackleton, heading to another protest because ICE won't stop kidnapping and murdering my neighbors.

We know how to handle the cold in Minnesota. It's all about layers! While many businesses were shut down for the strike, some in downtown opened to act as warming houses and give out warm beverages and snacks to the protesters. Having a moment to take off a few layers and sip tea was life-giving.

Seen the aerial footage and wondering what it was like on the ground in Minneapolis today? It was -9 degrees F (-31 with windchill) and still 50,000 of us were out protesting peacefully. (Note: video contains profanity)

A local pet rescue, The Bond Between, does amazing work. This includes finding temporary fosters so that domestic abuse victims, who have nowhere safe to go that will let them bring an animal, can escape without leaving their pet forever.

Just finished knitting my resistance hat modeled after the hat that was banned in Norway during Nazi occupation!

Another snowstorm another protest. Everyday, rain or shine. Why did they think Minnesotans were the ones to mess with?
January 22, 2026 at 12:05 AM
A snowstorm won't put a damper on the daily neighborhood protest.

I'm binging Heated Rivalry and knitting my rebellious #MeltTheIceHat. To find the meticulously recreated pattern, as well as info for a virtual and in-person knit in, check out Minnesota yarn shop Needle and Skein. www.instagram.com/needleandsk...

I got voted as "most helpful in a bank heist" in the laser course today. So I mean I have that going for me.
January 18, 2026 at 4:06 AM
A Minnesota yarn store is going viral for this. They're hosting a "knit in" to make hats inspired by Norwegian resistance to nazi occupation. Since this has attracted country-wide attention, they'll be making the pattern available online soon. More info here! www.instagram.com/needleandsk...

I treated my favorite (but most temperamental) spinning wheel to some rejuvenating maintenance and am taking her for a spin (heh) with a Targhee/Llama blend.

This morning the host of the classical music radio station I love delivered absolutely devastating commentary on the administration… and it was encoded brilliantly. I wrote about it so that I would never forget its perspicacity. www.superbetsy.com/blog/how-m...
How Minnesota Public Radio subtly and brilliantly slammed this administration

Shout out to the instructor in my cycling class tonight here in the Twin Cities who said, "tonight's playlist has a theme. I won't tell you what it is, but I'm fucking angry," and then kicked it off with "This is America." I appreciate those who use whatever platform is available to them.

Here's a neat thing. I've been tracking what I eat for a year. Well, much longer than that, but I've been consistent for 365 days straight!
January 5, 2026 at 2:46 PM
I ushered in the new year with a 90 minute OrangeTheory workout that began at 10:20pm and ended just in time for a champagne toast at midnight. Happy 2026!
