If you grew up on sleuth stories and wilderness/ horse books - genuinely, cat rescue in your adult years will feel like you trained your whole life to stalk clever little animals but in order to help them.

Rescue hot take: drumming up adoption rates with discounts and lies about capacity is the exact wrong thing to do. Pets are not impulse purchases, @nycacc: encourage more people to rescue help rescuers more. Your capacity was your choice, be accountable.

Why does it take more regulation to groom a cat than to rescue one? Animal rescue needs regulation, but that won't come until it stops exploiting women's labor.

@nycacc has closed for nyc residents but remains open for cops. When a government service is only available if you go through police first, you ensure that only the most privileged people have access to free resources.

My controversial animal rescue opinion of the day is that we're just treading water until wealth inequality is addressed. There is nothing I can do if a spay surgery costs the same as the adopters' rent.
