Wildly swerving between cozy pictures of sewing projects and cats, and what some people call 'politics'.

I made a boycott American products list for the UK, because I was so frustrated with the incorrect ones circling. And found the character limit for Alt Text whilst I was at it. I love my US folk but I can't be spending my money with your companies at the moment.
Dishwasher. And I guess the slow cooker, but the dishwasher is iconic of the good life to me.
Everybody has two kitchen appliances that will change their life. The problem is, they're different for everybody.
This place needs some Innocuous Discourse pronto. Quote this with a take that’s not political or aggressive

Going to be honest, seems mightily convenient at the moment for big corporations and rich people to be very keen to tell you that stealing from the rich is actually very bad.

Thought I might be over-doing it with two hats, two scarves, and my down-filled parka for today's cross-country train journey. Nope, not really. The carriages are okay but you can see your breath in the vestibules where the toilets are.

Time to re-up this one. Which to be honest I have to recheck every now and again as it's hard to remember so many different names, but if you just buy UK supermarket own brands that's a fantastic start.

For all that the media has spent years freaking out about what social media does to our brains, I don’t understand why there appears to be little effort to grapple with the fact that these chatbots are, for some not insignificant portion of the population, literally psychosis machines

Safely through the post to its recipient, I can share this multi-pocket dice bag, which opens out to be a protected dice rolling area. A scrap busting project too, which is always satisfying. I used the Bernina pattern available free online.

Seeing an ad for an early career (MA/PhD qualified) position at a museum doing...a lot of things, £28pa. Except the position is only 21hrs, so that's actually £17k pa, and probably requires evening and weekend work. Reminds me why I left Heritage.

A vulnerable child was groomed and trafficked and then subjected to the most shocking experiences imaginable including the deaths of her babies.

Instead of taking responsibility the British establishment stripped her of her citizenship and dumped her like old rubbish.

Shamima Begum: Home secretary to 'robustly defend' citizenship decision
The ECHR questions whether it was considered if Shamima Begum was a victim of grooming and trafficking.

Away for c.20hrs and the cats are now doing a good impression of having been abandoned for a week. Glued to the sofa under warm furry bodies. Good 2026 vibes.

After working on a book about psychedelic medicine for more than a year I've been struggling to succinctly sum up my thoughts on where the field is at. Stumbled across this this quote and it's pretty much where I've landed.

Made dinner to use up things from the freezer and dealt with the rather English 'meat and two veg' effect by pouring garlic butter over everything. Amazing. Just...stunning.

They are also bad in people taking hands-free calls - all this stuff takes a lot of concentration. Even if your eyes are nominally on the road, your concentration is not. Do not get cocky about this stuff.
Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

Watching Die Hard and remembering the first time I saw it, at a Christmas cinema screening, where we were exposed to an extremely embarrassing proposal attempt in front of the whole cinema and the poor woman's family and friends, who all clearly knew the plan even though she did not.

Currently in the middle of making a 'quick fun gift' that has gotten completely out of hand and I really need to finish this evening. I'm sure I'm not the only one doing last minute sewing! Why do we so this to ourselves?!

Fair play to the health assistant I met today, who lives in a binary world of regular folk and those who have 'the mental health' (problems). Sounds like quite a reassuringly simple place to be.

Uk government telling us how to prepare for power outages, whilst schilling AI which will suck the life out of our electricity grid and water table. You would be embarrassed to write this as a plot in a story.

Not sure there is much Christmas in my heart this year. Suspect there will not be a tree or wreaths or all that this time. Too tired, too busy, not in the vibe. But I guess that could change this weekend, if things start to feel jolly?

I impulsively bought tickets for a show last night, and it was FIVE HOURS long. I had a great time but god I'm tired now. Leaving the bed this morning is very hard.

Last week of work before going on leave means sending people off for what may be several tough weeks, with people who have really hurt them, trying situations, or sometimes just dark, miserable times. Even though I won't see them, I do think of them and hope for the very best.

Finished this secret santa gift for a friend, using up some of the fabric stash to get me in under the value limit. It was really enjoyable to make something specific and relatively simple, and to bring into concrete reality wishes of shelter, warmth, comfort and protection for them.
