This is probably the most important take of these times. R’s are expected to be idiots so when they burn the country it’s nothing out of the ordinary while D’s must meet a level of near perfection to not be picked up by every outlet.
Trump officials' showings at hearings today were disasters, but it doesn't make headlines bc the media's default assumption is that Rs are clownish rascals. But if Dems didn't know what was happening at their agencies or what habeas corpus is, it'd be front page news. This is a key media asymmetry.

This will be catastrophic for millions…many accounts will be “lost accidentally” with a gutted customer service there will be no way to even start to reclaim…all the plan. SSI is their money that was taken out of hard-earned paychecks over a lifetime. A loan to the govt for security later.

I am no expert but a department dedicated to making gov’t websites work more efficiently seems like something the Dept of Govt Efficiency would want to keep around.
I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.
