BRAPA - British Real Ale Pub Adventure

I'm visiting all 4500 pubs in the current Good Beer Guide. One pint per pub, 25 minute minimum stay. Them's the rules!

Parcel Yard, Kings Cross. ESB n Pride off but lovely man half recommends me a Sambo's choc stout, very nice. Bloke buys wife expensive roses in guilty manoeuvre. Eurostar reserve half the pub n act snotty behind glass

Pub 3262, Outhouse Brewery, Wokingham. Just opened, very dead, confusing re beers but I saw the key keg sign as Ace of Base didn't sing. Barmaid asks if I wrote the GBG! I wish, every shit York pub n Dad's own outhouse (not open to the public) would be in if so!

Pub 3261, Newtown Pippin, Bracknell. Proper flat earth estate plonker. Enjoyable. Bunch of mystery men of a certain age say hello from a distance. Commented again on my beer choice. Billy Joel River of Dreams, but did he ever dream about this place?

Pub 3260, Castle Inn, Hurst. Multi-faceted creaker with confusing loos. Landlord respects my Smuggler choice (pecan might kill me) , think he wanted me to sociably perch next to busy diners but i'm too sober for that! Found a good chilly empty side room.

Pub 3259, Royal Oak, Ruscombe. Surprise carpet throughout (8/10) makes it palatable. Roasted Nuts drink well. Good beams too but most whitewashed. Folk terrified of smiling, main man doing it all AND has time to chat to mates.

Good afternoon from a magical GWR train. Semi-retired mascot Colin gets a rare outing.

Ready for 4-5 ticks in a county I've not done yet this year.

Keep it thirsty on Thursday.

York Tap, City of York (revisit). I'm Shameless, and it drinks well. Two Mackem gadgies reckon I should get BRAPA on tik tok. Wet nose barmaid on top form but her colleague spills a drink on me. Sober again, but not for long!

Pub 3258 probably , Olde Chequers Inn, Bulkington. Nice pub. More Bass. A woman called H. Like Line of Duty. And people nearly as drunk as me. Well played Warwickshire. You aren't shite. You are kinda alright. Like Lee Howey.
February 7, 2026 at 9:56 PM
Pub 3257, Weavers Arms, Bulkington. Bass everywhere! Three different flavours. Incredibly friendly. Bloke called Dave reckoned BRAPA was worth the admission fee alone.

3256, Town & County, Rugby. They shut at 4. I read 5. I begged. They said ok. Lovely people. Think BRAPA sounds mad. Judgey! Or what! Great place. Coseball.

Pub 3255, Rugby Tap, Rugby. Very impressive microid. Smells like our family home the day after Princess Diana's death. Main man is a cute knitted character with Charlie Hungerford vibes. Sticking to low percents to catch up. Byatt's top class. Battery 64%
February 7, 2026 at 3:40 PM
Pub 3254, Windmill Inn, Rugby. Found a slow charging plug under a bench at this fluffy BCA where a bloke cracks the snacks for G.Yorath. Beer weirdly metallic n warm, a rare BCA beer fail but Ghost Mudgie would say 'told you so!' Carpet 7.5. Battery 61%

Post emptive! Angel, Atherstone. Only customer. Market Tavern busy. Nice chat with Carole who gave me a choice of sockets (so to speak). Lovely old building, lots of fun looking ales, but wet led. Is that really the only reason. Brick from Roman times.

Pub 3253, Market Tavern, Atherstone. A very fine popular friendly pub who are charging my charger whilst I bar block the cobs, phone plugged in. Weird standing at bar wondering what I'll have for pint two. Very un BRAPA. People are so bad at deciding. 22% battery, come on!

Hello from a damp Atherstone. Disaster here as left power bank at home, bought new one but it needs charging itself!

A pub is kindly charging me up but plans for exciting rural day are shelved.

Pub 3252, loose cannon, Newark. Weirdly great. Like a south east London award winner has been plonked into Newark for no good reason. Bass and bass both killing me, pow. I could retire here.
February 5, 2026 at 7:25 PM
Pub 3251, Bird Hide, Attenborough. The horizontal plywood really reminds me of Blacktoft Sands '93 when that Marsh Harrier said hi. Gorge stout, nice man with Sean Dyche voice, but the blowy heater wins the day.
February 5, 2026 at 5:30 PM
Pre emptive Spoons. Last Post, Beeston. Next pub doesn't open til 5pm but is this way out of Nottingham. Carpet a forestry 8. Creakiest staircase ever. Everyone looks like they've crawled out of a John Wayne Western. Like it .
February 5, 2026 at 4:27 PM
Pub 3250, Johnson Arms, Lenton, Nottingham. Best so far! Nearly got NHS discount. Stinks of 6% ale. Lanyard wearing students try to be amusing. Cosy. Fact carpet is a 5 doesn't matter. Oligo Bunk drinks well.
February 5, 2026 at 3:27 PM
Pre emptive Spoons, Gooseberry Bush, Nottingham. 3pm til my next tick opens so had to retire to the Call the Midwife of Notts Spoons. Crushed up can of Monster, weird carpet, good pale Farmers and a flowery barmaid make it decent.
February 5, 2026 at 2:30 PM
Pub 3249, Vale, Woodthorpe, Nottingham. A fine Inventory effort with great 30's art deco curvature and cheeky wood. Denture gang suck down cheesy mash. Barmaid's handpump splutters but hidden Elsie Mo saves the day. Top lass.
