This excellent book brilliantly captures the breadth of the health challenge – with chapters on diet, exercise, mental health, transport, water, clean air, gun control, smoking, health care systems – while deep-diving into the detail of both problems and solutions.

I wrote about how and why social media has largely become boring and why it's a bad idea to eat your own brain: www.forkingpaths.co/p/is-social-...
Is social media just...boring now?
Social media is destroying democracy and accelerating idiocracy. But it's also just...really, really boring.

Thanks...the main drivers of overeating are high energy density and hyperpalatability...made possible at scale, price, convenience by industrial processing. Plus...we just don't know of potential harms not mediated by weight gain. What we DO know is the food environment is unhealthy and can be fixed.

Oversimplifying nature of problem by creating one big bogeyman can cause harm. It can muddle our understanding of healthy eating, blame the wrong people, and pave the way for bad policies

Thanks for the review! To respond on a couple of comments and not wanting to quibble...yes, smallholders are key but this book was about tackling corporate capture and power imbalances. 'Anti-business' is over-simplistic...it's as much anti-politicians who fail to rein in corporate power. But 🙏 !
