A new weapons detection system aimed at reducing violence in hospital emergency departments is set to be trialled at an Edmonton hospital and, if successful, could be rolled out across other health-care facilities in Alberta.
AHS is planning to use the Royal Alexandra Hospital for a pilot project using such technology.

Respiratory illness season is now upon us and hospitals in Edmonton and Calgary are already beyond full. The UCP government could have shown leadership in respect of public health workers. Instead they fired some and silenced others, resulting in the largest measles outbreak in North America.

The AB HC org is so complex now and these new "Ministries" and "Agencies" are pilfering staff from each other to create their admin groups. 4 Ministries where we used to have 1: Primary & Prev. Health Services, Hospital & Surg Health Serv, Mental Health & Addic, Assist Living & Social Serv.
