A small mount in the Tankwa Karoo. This photo and my other Tankwa photos cost me an expensive tire as the rock on the road cut open the sidewall. I went up a difficult 4x4 pass with no spare. The wife was not happy.
In the late 80’s and early 90s I used to love the dubbed German tv show Derrick. Clever and well written show. Watched a bit of an original german episode on Youtube today and was amazed by the fact that they had nudity in it! Boobs! The things the Apartheid govt took away from us.

It might not look too tough but the top of Ouberg Pass, a two track pass where a 4x4 is mandatory was enhanced by the fact that we had lost a tire an hour before, was late for our booking and had no cell signal. More images from the Tankwa. #photography

In photography, size really does matter…. When it comes to printing anyway. A print of this Tankwa Karoo road currently hangs in my living room while it waits to go to its final destination and in A1 size it really pops. Looking at photos on a phone just doesn’t compare. #photograph

At the start of the Tankwa and at the bottom of Katbakkies Pass (translates to Cat Face Pass) you can find one of the oddest diners in the world where this car is one of their odd collection of… things . Not far from to this car is a stranded flying saucer. It is a must stop.

Its still one of my dreams to go watch a bok game in Wales just to hear the anthems. I have heard the anthem at Murrayfield but Krige and Streauli spoiled that experience for me in 2002. Btw. Used to hum the anthems to my girls at sleeptime when they were babies. #WALvRSA

Fuck. Heard today that a close friend ended her own life last weekend. Spoke a couple of weeks ago and there was no sign of anything. Had a history or depression but it all looked good for her. Remember. Mind the people around you. You are never sure what people are going through. GNU Irene.
