Hey, Americans!
This is what you look like to the rest of the world.
A bunch of bully boy weak little men who y’all elected.
Scrawling with their crayons.
Sending your country to the dogs.
Time to stand up and be counted.

So is Trump mentally ill?
Or is Trump a Hitler-style fascist?
Or is he both?
My vote is both.
American academics welcome to the rest of the world, we’ll happily benefit from the Great Trump Brain Drain.

If #Trump wants a third term, surely this would mean #Obama could run against him. It would be the ultimate humiliation for the little orange man, bring it on I say!

I often give MSM headline-writers/editors a hard time on framing of political news.

So now a note of compliment to hed-writers + photo and layout editors who put together today's WSJ print front page. (h/t @jorgeguajardo.bsky.social )

If Dickens or Dreiser were writing this, would seem overdone

Thanks to #Trump, the 21st century now belongs to China.

Chinese stock market already seems to be demonstrating how ineffective #Trump tariff catastrophe will be for America. I thought USA wanted to dominate? Looks like capitulate to me…

Come on America.

Is it 25th amendment time now? Is it?

#Trump message to his blue collar voters. As prices rise and families starve, auto plants close, the sick no longer have Medicaid, pensioners and vets struggle with late beneficiary checks, black peoples lose the few rights they have in racist USA. It’s you - your POTUS thinks you’re weak.

Well, quite
It is absolutely right that we do not need Greenland (or Canada) for natsec reasons because they are already close NATO allies. So the only rationale to turn the US into an aggressor in our own hemisphere is if you don’t plan on NATO being a US alliance in the future.

Last night I made a mistake. I conflated a post objecting to facial recognition with my feeling that people in the centre of politics cannot express socially conservative views without being cancelled. And that the far right weaponises that to polarise. Both issues are real, but unconnected.
March 29, 2025 at 8:24 PM
So again, I’ll apologise for my use of the term far left. Facial recognition software is widely used in supermarkets in Australasia. It has tight measures around its deployment, especially given the software is still evolving. It reduces crime, and allows people to shop with greater confidence.

And I agree on polarisation of the discourse, and apologise if you felt I was characterising you. But I hold firm on my view of the issue. Commonly held views are cancelled for anybody who wishes to disassociate themselves from the worst excesses of the far right. What about issue by issue politics?
