Every town, every village - housing developments going up everywhere you look.

Behind pretty much every one of those is a "cash-poor" farmer paying a multi-million-pound cheque into the bank...

95% of us who live in the countryside are not farmers and do not work in farming or agricultural industries. Our interests do not coincide with the interests of rural landowners or their businesses.

As inheritance tax on farms is a hot topic today, a reminder of how millions of acres ended up in the ownership of so few people.
Every entry in this book lists a village with the number of acres stolen by Enclosure - the process that shaped the distribution of land & wealth ownership in England...
