I'll never understand this checker at my grocery store who insists soap needs its own bag separate from any food. Plastic bottle of liquid hand soap cannot possibly contaminate food that's already in its own packaging. I don't need a second bag just for one small bottle of soap.

For the first time in my career I think I'm turning down a job offer that would be more money on the basis of a work project and team I don't want to walk away from at my current gig. Benefits and long-term security also feel a bit better where I am now. It all feels very, very weird.

Hotel for the weekend in NYC is right around the corner from Macy's. Walked into that store today and it's the polar opposite experience of 99% of Macy's locations. Inventory! All sizes! Helpful employees who are friendly! And customers actually buying things!

People who aren't tall enough to reach the overhead bins on a plane and also pack bricks in their luggage really should check their bags rather than demand those of us who have height stow and retrieve their bags for them.

One thing in the world that doesn't suck right now.

Performing arts venues need to learn a valuable lesson from airlines - there are millions of dollars in profits to be made by having some seats with extra legroom and charging extra for them. The arts are chronically underfunded and this is an easy way to generate more revenue.

Egg shortage? Not here.

Fun music fact I learned today. Remember how in the late 80s/early 90s there was this drum beat that showed up on lots of songs by very different artists? Think the drums on the early Milli Vanilli tracks, EMF'S Unbelievable, Duran Duran's Come Undone…

I'm so tired of the narrative that the private sector is more productive. Gov't workforce been downsized for decades and consistently does more with less. I hope that a lesson from the #AA5342 tragedy is that we need more people to carry out the responsibilities of the federal government, not fewer.

Guy at the pool checking in for flight tomorrow PVR-DEN. He & his husband have been debating for 30 min if $69 to move to Econ+ is too much $. Both over 6' tall. They're staying in a condo here that rents for $350+/night. I'm about to give them my Amex so they'll shut up.

Blue state Americans can and should do this, too. Why should I drink Tennessee whiskey instead of a good one brewed at home in Washington State?

Since everything is basically terrible right now here's the kitten showing off his jumping skills.

Good to know when the end comes and we're all starving this one will be able to snatch a bird out of the air for us.

Weird that we have to say this, but the government doesn’t get to decide what gender a person is.

First work trip of the year.

I'm tired - 5:30 AM alarm when I couldn't sleep sucks.

Trying to focus on the good stuff, though. Seeing my sister and her wife this afternoon. Working with an amazing client this week. Trying to find something positive on a shit day.

I need to get up off the couch and pack for a work trip tomorrow, but the kitten has decided I'm not allowed to do that.

I've been lurking on this platform for a while but not really interacting much.

It's time to change that and find a home here.
