NHS Consultant Sonographer, interested in head and neck ultrasound, ultrasound-guided intervention and research.

When not at work I love a bit of Metallica, reading, football and trying to learn Italian (can't roll my R's though so it sounds terrible!)
Just walked past someone in the corridor at work with their phone on loudspeaker whilst they're in a queue with HMRC. The music alone gives me anxiety! I went past twice 30 mins apart...I feel their pain.

On a related topic to my earlier post about journal rejection, how do people pay open access fees? I'd love to submit to an open access journal can't pay the cost myself so it limits the journals I can submit to.

Had an article manuscript rejected by a journal today. The first review recommended a major revision, I made all the changes recommended by the reviewers and still got rejected. I'll try again elsewhere but it's such a frustrating process, how do people manage to publish on a regular basis?!

More than two years learning Italian on Duolingo along with websites, books, podcasts and radio and I can still barely understand a word they're saying 😭🤷‍♂️ I'm enjoying it if nothing else and that's what matters!

Spent this afternoon at work training someone to do shoulder ultrasounds and it reminded me of this meme I saw ages ago. Made me laugh, hopefully someone will appreciate it 😀

Feels like a day to stay inside under a duvet and watch Christmas films. Stupid work holding me back from the things I want to do 😭

Acute cholecystitis is hard! So I'm so excited about our Radiographics paper where we describe important sonographic findings more predictive of acute cholecystitis...many of which I did not learn in residency. @richapatelmd.bsky.social @rsnasky.bsky.social

#disabled folks in the UK, what would you want a radiographer (the person doing your scan or pictures for the doctor) to know?

I'm doing a guest seminar on "caring for disabled patients" for radiography students just starting their journey. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated 💖

Not long joined in here, looking for any ultrasound, radiography or medical imaging related accounts to follow. 👍 Also trying to do more research...just applied to start a PhD so if I'm successful getting on the course will definitely be looking for advice to do with that! 😱
