Texas GOP and Gov Abbott obviously believe that parents and churches are incapable of teaching their children their religious faith so they are conscripting “big government” to the cause. Pathetic. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/19/u...

NYTimes reports: “President Trump said one reason behind his push to acquire Greenland is that he didn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize, according to a message he sent to Norway’s prime minister.” On top of everything else, the shocking lack of self awareness is hilarious…& tragic.

For those of us living in Virginia, it’s time to pressure Sen Kaine on ICE funding. He betrayed us on the showdown over health care & he voted to confirm Noem. There’s no reason to believe this weak wimp won’t fail to stand with us again.

Trump says he’ll take Greenland one way or another. Denmark responds by asking allies to site troops there. Trump says there’s no need for midterm 2026 elections. America responds by saying “he’s joking.” Yes, Trump is such a funny guy.

Trump’s unabated pardons and commutations of fraudsters, money launderers, corrupt politicians and others who lavish him with political cash continues. Of course it does, it’s a Friday.

In the ultimate irony, should Walz mobilize the National Guard to protect the state’s residents from ICE?

“A day late and a dollar short.” Congressional Dems proud of themselves for efforts to adopt a resolution blocking military action in Venezuela that occurred 2 weeks ago. How about passing a resolution blocking military action in Greenland? Too hard?

Our Constitution doesn’t authorize the President to attack countries on his whim. If the US faces an imminent threat, there is some wiggle room. But that wasn’t the case w Venezuela (which is why they said it’s law enforcement) & it clearly ain’t the case w Iran or Greenland.

If the police on J6 applied the use of force protocols applied by ICE, there may be over 100 less offenders Trump later pardoned bc you don’t pardon dead ppl. Maybe more would have been killed if they didn’t retreat. Despite the injustice, I’m glad the cops showed professional restraint on j6.

Characteristic of a sociopath: refusing to wear a mask to protect the community and insisting on wearing a mask to terrorize the community.

Not that it matters, but the “Monroe Doctrine” intended to end European influence in the Western Hemisphere. There is no European influence over Venezuela. It was Teddy Roosevelt who expanded the doctrine, using the same flimsy justification as Trump, to American imperialism in the Hemisphere.

I wish this weren't true, but we now have take his threats about Greenland more seriously, and start to talk about the world-changing mistake if he chose to go to war with Europe - which would essentially guarantee the rest of this century is China's.

Congress must immediately pass a joint resolution requiring advance notification of the use of the military in matters involving Greenland.

Ro Khana should tell how, exactly, he is going to “prosecute” anyone? He cant as a member of Congress. How can his good intentions be enforced?

Trump’s ridiculous assertion of 700%price reductions for Medicare Rx is worth mocking. But the policy issue matters. Every GOP member of Congress opposed the law authorizing price negotiations that Biden passed. Why are no Dems saying this?

RFK has argued that the mRNA vax was “rushed.” Although incorrect in many respects (it was the product of decades of research) no one seems to press him on the fact that the alleged “rush” was mandated by Trump: “Operation Warp Speed.”

The feckless Tim Kaine undermined his colleagues saying: “this deal forces the Republicans in charge of Congress to hold an up or down vote on preventing the enormous increases in health care premiums currently scheduled to go into effect next year.” That was a lie. No up or down vote was held.

Trump’s racist tirade targeting Somalis is eerily reminiscent of Hitler’s early statements about Jews wherein he said they were “parasites” and should be removed from Germany. It’s amazing how quickly Trump’s statements will be forgotten. It’s deplorable how they are tolerated. “Never Again” indeed

Trump pardoned a money launderer who assisted drug smugglers; he pardoned a major drug smuggler, former Honduran President Hernandez; and he relocated family members of a major Mexican drug cartel to the US. Trump is facilitating, not restricting, drug trafficking.

Given Trump’s continuing boast about his physical exam, and that his MRI was the “best ever seen” (despite the fact he can’t say what was imaged), why hasn’t the press pool asked for said MRI so we can all admire it?

What is so wrong w Mamdani saying “these sacred [a synagogue] spaces should not be used to promote activities in violation of international law” while simultaneously denouncing the actions & language of protesters at the event? I mean, do ppl think it’s ok to promote violations of international law?
