Intersectional, multi-front coalitions mean trusting that even if other the people in the coalition aren't working on Your Segment of the problems, they're still on your side. In fact, they kind of require it. And that goes for friendships and other more intimate interpersonal relationships, too.

“Our world hangs like a magnificent jewel in the vastness of space. Every one of us is a part of that jewel, a facet of that jewel. And in the perspective of infinity, our differences are infinitesimal. We are intimately related. May we never even pretend that we are not.” —Fred Rogers, 2002

Happy Constitution Day! I had a lovely encounter with a HS history teacher the other day, which began when he came up and said, "Has anybody ever told you, you look a lot like Peter Sagal?" I had to tell him the truth: no, because, well, I am.

He still uses "Constitution USA" to teach civics.

Whenever there is major official political process going on that I want to be informed about -- like a national convention -- I turn on CSPAN and directly watch as much of it as I can. No filters. No pundits. Just complete (free!) coverage of what the players are actually saying/doing on the record.

One of my sappiest things is how much I love that the Dot of the "i" in "Jeremy Bearimy" goes from being the thing that literally breaks Chidi down into a fugue of existential horror, to being the thing he'd live in forever, as long as it's with Eleanor.

As with any translation, you have to accept that the phrasing may sound a little "foreign" and you won't immediately [...]

So I step outside at sunset, and it’s *still* 95 degrees. I walk up the block toward the store and stop at the corner for the red light. A young woman walks up a moment later.

Her, loudly: “It is hot as FUCK.”

Me, neighborly smile: “Yeah, little bit.”

Her, staring: “A LOT BIT.”
