This math applies to incarceration more generally. When we criminalize poverty, addiction, and mental illness it means we spend more money on incarceration than it would have cost to deal with the things we criminalized.

All my life I have studied democratization and autocratization. My 1st field trip was to newly democratic Argentina. I then added autocracies to my portfolio: Cuba, Ven, etc. I think I can recognize the stages of transition to authoritarianism. Here are the boxes Trump has already checked off.

It's not about lobbyists. It's about the politicians on this platform deciding to neuter DOGE by doing a better version of what DOGE wants to do. Legislatively.

What "radicalized" me? A book I read as a child. It said to accept and help others indiscriminately, and to welcome travelers. Either I misread it, or others twisted it for their own selfish agenda. Upon reaching the Golden Gates, they may be in for a surprise…because that book was called the Bible.
