Fiscal analyst about town. Believes there's no such thing as a guilty pleasure. Was: AZ. Now: MN -- yes, I'm aware it will be colder here, that’s a feature, not a bug. (he/him/cis/het)
Just completed a nice rucking workout* outside and I feel great!

*walk from Kowalski’s with food I forgot to get from Trader Joe’s on the weekend

This tree looks like they’re a little bit puzzled by the question they’ve just been asked.

There are many who aren’t sure if their “If you’re in line” joke was noted here on Bluesky. If you can, please volunteer your time to “cure” those jokes to make sure they’ve been counted.

The only prediction I’ll think about today is that of my uncle, born in Germany in the early 1930s, who while I sat at his dinner table in summer 2016 said in halting but forceful English to me, “Trump is a bad, bad man.” I still think about that monthly.

Anyway, vote today if you haven’t yet.

As they had not yet started saying 15 or so years ago, 10/10, no notes

I’m reading “Pride and Prejudice” and I think that I’m going to make reading Jane Austen the week before a major election a new ritual. A lovely tonic.

Could Shohei Ohtani - and *only* Shohei Ohtani - win the World Series? Because that seems like the optimal result for me.

I’ve got too many podcasts to listen to, but if you think I’m going to turn off Pulp’s “Common People” on the radio, you’d be wrong.

(Also, pretty sure you can guess my age from this skeet.)

Who is this MNUFC team playing so efficiently and what have they done with the often frustrating team I’m used to seeing?

I sang in a public choir on Friday night, so I’ve checked that box on my “Things to do in Minnesota” bingo card.

(It was fun! I’ll do it again!)

Instead of another debate, how about they compete to see who can complete an escape room first?

Yesterday’s MN State Fair food: a cup of Martha’s Cookies (probably shouldn’t have tried to eat it all, but, you know, Martha’s); Sweet Corn & Hot Honey Cake (Farmer’s Union; fine but presentation underwhelming); and the Union’s Honey Lavender Lemonade (good but I shouldn’t waste calories on drinks)

Shout-out to the wild turkey strolling along Summit Avenue yesterday morning perfectly within the bike lane for as long as I watched them.

Hey MSP peeps, can anyone recommend a good running club for older, slower people like, erm, me? At this point, anything faster than a 10-minute pace is pushing it. Vibe and good natured people more important than the training. Thanks in advance…

At a windshield repair place and their TV is: 1) tuned to the Euros, and 2) at a very low volume. For these blessings I want to smash lots of car windows then refer them here.

Me, a transplant just arrived from the desert, sowing last week, enjoying the rain: Haha, fuck yeah!

Me, unloading the moving van this morning in the occasional downpour, reaping: Well this fucking sucks. What the fuck.

My wife was doing a crossword puzzle & the clue was something like “MTV named this Phil Collins hit one of the top 100 videos of the 80s.” She asked me what it might be, and I said probably either “Sussudio” or “In the Air Tonight”…. 1/x

Going some very old files and found this clipping. Still one of the best headlines ever (though it doesn’t make sense unless you read the article attached to it).

Even if the eclipse were simply an excuse to sit in a field with other people and recline on a blanket and eat snacks I’d be fully onboard with it.
