New data modelling suggests that the world is on track to warm by 2°C and 3°C even if countries met every near-term climate pledge and hit their targets for net-zero CO₂ emissions
For the first time, climate models show the 1.5°C goal is dead
Governments have failed to limit global warming. What comes next?

New MMI episode! Today, we ask, "Is Canada the worst country in the world when it comes to housing affordability?"

The short version: It depends on what metric you use, but quite possibly "yes".

I give my belated thanks to the 147 Ontario Liberal delegates who last weekend put their trust in me and voted me for party President!

Here is a 1600-word reflection that I have written about the experience: stefanklietsch.substack.com/p/reflection...

The campaign platform of the incumbent OLP President Kathryn McGarry is now live: www.votemcgarry.ca/platform It includes a promise for a Campaign Debrief Implementation Committee. This is the first time I have ever seen her commit in print to enabling policy resolutions - due to me running?

After careful consideration, I have decided that if I am elected as @ontarioliberal.bsky.social President, and if delegates vote for a leadership contest, that I will be supportive of @bonnieforontario.bsky.social staying on in the position for the duration of the contest.

Honestly, I expect that the Council elections are going to toss out some of the incumbents and keep in place others. I expect the process to be as fair as past AGM elections were.

I am not sure that leadership reviews, as opposed to contests, can even be "fair" in principle.

eg. If omnibus budget bills were banned tomorrow, the House would suddenly be faced with a lot more individual pieces of legislation. And on the current sitting calendar, I don't think there'd be enough days to actually deal with those bills.

I agree with @acoyne.bsky.social's take here. The war in Gaza has been brutal to see unfold, but the makeup of the Middle East has been permanently changed and there certainly is potential for something good to come out of international pressure.

1. The unconstrained role of money.

2. Gerrymandering.

I find myself in agreement with Janice Stein here. Israel is not guilty of "genocide", but Israel's Trump-supported plans for pressuring part of the Gazan population to leave the territory certainly amounts to ethnic cleansing.
