I see that the Tate brothers have been allowed to escape back to the US. This is on a par with pardoning the Jan6 rioters. Terrible.

That’s it. I’ve given the Starmer haters enough rope. Muted the word Starmer for 24 hrs a few weeks ago and what a difference that makes to your inbox. So I’m now extending for 30 days (and included “Reeves”). I welcome folk with alternative views (big improvement from Muskville). Facts please.

@scaramucci.bsky.social ok listened to your latest podcast with Katy. Putin’s got Trump by the balls. What’s he got?

@alastaircampbell2.bsky.social just listened to your podcast on Vance/Munich. Given Trump’s subsequent deranged comments about Ukraine and Zelensky today, what should Europe (inc the UK) do in response?
February 19, 2025 at 12:37 AM
Ahh. Sick of the anti Starmer trolls which were cluttering my feed, I muted “Starmer” on my moderation settings for 24 hours (except those I’m following). Hello world. I could be persuaded to extend to a week or more.

Memo to self. Stay away from Bluesky on Saturday nights. Over 20 Starmer-hating posts in the last hour. Surely these folk must have something better to do.

The first dozen posts on “UK politics” this afternoon all talk about “Starmer” in a negative way. You have to acknowledge that concerted effort. It’s almost as if they’d be delighted if the government and the country failed.

@bsky.app a question. I’m currently following AOC but I’m not getting her posts. The only time I see them is when someone reposts. Please explain why.

@ethanz.bsky.social hi Ethan. Read your piece on the weakness in current electoral polling. The essence of your essay is that pollsters may have stopped listening. Given that truth no longer matters for many, is it possible that pollsters are still listening but voters are lying in their responses?

A clip supposedly showing bodies being roasted above fire pits is being shared online with claims it’s evidence of a ‘Hindu Genocide’ in Bangladesh.

But the footage is actually from an immersive Halloween experience at a theme park in China in 2018.

According to “the rest is politics”podcast” Farage reads 12 newspapers a day to get a feel for what “the people” are thinking. That explains a lot. If he is listening to a dozen very rich men venting their political bias, no wonder he holds such extreme views.

What financial inequality. This is why we need the billionaires to control how we live our lives. 🤔

I admire this. We must welcome those who have come to understand that Trump was conning them all along. With compassion. Each one of us is necessary to restore our democracy that is being handed over to the billionaire class.

This is the type of bravery that will be needed in America over the next few years. A politician who is not afraid to stand up against a would be fascist.

A brilliant summary of political over-reach that happened in S Korea. Kudos to the people and lawmakers from all parties for standing up to an autocrat. You have to wonder if the same manoeuvre was tried in the US, would American democracy be similarly strong enough. api.substack.com/feed/podcast...

After the election of Donald Trump, the power of Silicon Valley needs to be challenged now more than ever — and that requires countries to take control of their technological destinies.

I’m thrilled to share a new white paper I helped co-author called “Reclaiming Digital Sovereignty.”

As a father, Biden’s pardon is understandable. That said, his decision is a major indictment on where justice now stands in the US. He has given a gift to the felon who will take over.

I recommend taking a break from social media, even for just a day. If you’re “on” all the time, sometimes you fail to see the forest for the trees. Loads of anti-Trump/MAGA posts. Name calling may make you feel better but does nothing to heal the country or start to bring folk together.

I attach a link from an American lady whose writings I’ve been following for a while. In a world of toxic narratives, she provides superb context to current events. This one is an example of how history repeats. Rich men thinking that society works best with them in charge. Worth a read.

Woke up to more folk angst-ing about what Trump might/not do. As we get further away from the shock of the result, I get more optimistic. His overwhelming motive to stand again was to stay out of jail. Everything else was secondary. He’s just about achieved that. The sun is up. Overly optimistic?

Have read about 15 minutes of posts (need to find a new book) before bed. Almost 100% detest either Starmer, Badenoch or Farage. Begs the question, does anyone like someone? Hope the Twitter trolls are not taking over. Night Night.

I’ve given social media a break for a couple days but wow, the Starmer attacks are unceasing. Looks like Musk has ordered some of his X pals/bots to join BSky. 4 months after the mess of the last 14 years and he is “the worst PM ever”.

And so it begins. The judge due to sentence the pres-elect has postponed sentencing on hush money deal. Laughed out loud when I read that his legal team want the case dismissed as it could create “unconstitutional impediments” to his ability to govern. How would they define the attempted coup Jan 6🙈

Can everyone get on board with the fact that Trump did not win a “massive mandate” from the American people? He polled less than 50% of the votes which means that more folk voted against him. Don’t let your country be destroyed by a Russian puppet.
