British Steel has been replaced with Corey fucking Hart. Who even bothers getting Corey Hart’s album?? He has one single! Even the most pedestrian of pop music listeners don’t give a fuck about the B-sides of First Offense. But still, the message is loud and clear: All of Eddie’s metal tapes have been stolen. Eddie sits, stunned, staring at the carnage in horror. He’s going to kill Steve Harrington. Actually, literally, biblically, he is going to kill that man.

“Hey,” Steve says softly, and Eddie blinks groggily up at the door. The lights have been dimmed in his room, so Steve’s backlit by the glaring white fluorescents of the hospital hall. “Is that a cactus?” Eddie slurs. “Figured you’d like it more than flowers,” Steve says with a small smile. “I love it,” Eddie sniffles, because whatever painkillers he’s on make him really, really emotional, and no one’s ever trusted him with a live plant before. “But I can barely get out of this bed, I’m gonna kill it.” “It’s a cactus,” Steve says, rolling his eyes as he finally steps into the room, door swinging shut softly behind him. “It doesn’t need that much care, and Allison said she’d water it for you until you’re back on your feet.” “Allison?” Eddie asks. “Nurse?” He can’t think of which she is through the fuzziness in his head. “Yeah, the brown bob and the charms dangling off her badge,” Steve says as he puts the pot on the windowsill. “The one who keeps sneaking you the extra applesauce.” “Applesauce nurse!” Eddie gasps. He loves applesauce nurse.
