yesterday i visited the met and saw their (small) exhibition of baseball cards from the first half of the 20th century because i’ll take any excuse to stare at vintage ephemera. check out how much the cards on the left could do with just yellow, red, and black ink!
six baseball cards from the 1933 tattoo orbit series. they are small lithograph prints depicting five baseball players (and one team owner) in bold reds and yellows. the figures’ photographs are superimposed onto illustrated stadium backgrounds. sixteen baseball cards from the 1938 heads-up series. they depict players from various teams by superimposing color photographs of their heads atop whimsically-drawn cartoon bodies in action. each player is surrounded by smaller doodles accompanied with facts about them.

heads up that bluesky doesnt show posts from other languages by default on your timeline, and its cutting you off from a lot of the community

go to bsky.app/settings/lan... and deselect any language from this setting, or else you might not see any of the new japanese users at all!
