i have a lot of contempt for the pithy one-liner letterboxd community but i think the three and a half star review of mississippi burning with a thousand likes that's just "willem dafoe hot" really takes the cake

A review of Serial Mom (1994)
If I had to pick between 90s sarcastic slasher satires, I know Serial Mom's got my vote over Scream. Comparisons to an R-Rated Disney Channel movie get right to the heart of the matter: Serial Mom is ...

While not intentional ragebait, I do hope that this raises a few hairs for a movie that ought not to be so loved. I hope to find a better way to honor Rob Reiner soon, no disrespect intended!

A ½ review of Misery (1990)
This began as an earnest attempt to honor the departure of the director, Rob Reiner, as I quite enjoyed his work on All In the Family, and a quite inhumane event had cut his life short. Unfortunately,...

Favorite/least favorite new releases of the year. Merrily We Roll Along pro shot would be at the top of the list but it’s not really a film so it doesn’t count.

CIFF day 5 seated for left handed girl rn. Charlie Polinger’s The Plague has potentially usurped Neo Sora’s Happyend as my fav of the year. Looking forward to seeing it again and seeing what he does next. Breathtaking final sequence. Gets the official Quinn Do Not Miss seal of approval

CIFF day 3 I didn’t get to watch anything but they did put me in the criterion closet at the end of the night! I totally floundered and forgot what I wanted to get, ended up grabbing Gummo, Blow Out, and the Michael Haneke trilogy.

In high school bible studies class sophomore year, we watched Rain Man over the course of 4 days. No pretense for why or how it related to anything in class, the teacher just liked Rain Man I think. No homework or discussion after either. Later that year he got demoted for making a suicide joke
What were the coolest movies you got to see in school growing up?

For me?

The Outsiders in middle school
The Abyss in high school
Glory in high school

CIFF day 2! Jay Kelly: Pretty Good! Probably worth seeing on the big screen instead of at home, Oscar bait for sure though, not a must see. Would benefit from an ad campaign where Trump rambles and reminisces about Jay Kelly like he’s a real person
