And now back to the regular OC posting lol
helmitts, an open species by donut-toast helmet materials the most common material helmitts have as their helmet is obsidian, because this material is simply most easily available on their home planet. if a helmitt were to eat enough of another material though, their helmet would slowly but surely change to appear more like what they've been eating. some examples of these materials are: 1. obsidian 2. flint 3. agate 4. ruby 5. opal 6. oyster shells. the material of their helmet is the same as their claws and back spines. there are many more precious stones and materials to take inspiration of! these are just some examples of what's possible coat patterns and colours. helmitts have very natural coloured coats and patterns. lots of browns, oranges, greys, blacks and whites. the typical colours you'd find on mammals. patterns can differ greatly from helmitt to helmitt. you can take inspiration from irl animals for their paterns or make up a pattern yourself! helmitts with crazy colours only exist in folktales and myths. these stories are often about great battles, deities or simply cautionary tales to keep young helmitts on the right track. patterns above based on a wolverine, bobcat and impala. get creative with patterns! helmitt telling a folktale. note: all helmitts have little hairs that match the colour of the metal rim of their helmet. in these examples, they're golden dots anthro helmitt body types. anthro helmitts can be whatever body type you can think of! their horns can be decorated in various way sand they can be clothed however you like!
