He stayed close by, not approaching the door, but close to it.
“Here goes nothing…”
He began to walk past Calum, and as he did so he gently tapped his nose.
“…I’ve got a few tricks of my own. Now! Let’s figure out what the heck is going on in this dump, shall we?”
The Time Lord stormed ahead, marching towards a no longer shadowed door at the other -
The Doctor basically scooped him up off the street. He wouldn’t, however, change it for the world. The thought made him smile.
That was, until the lights came on.
“Damn, ye actually did it!”

He somehow felt surprised despite the fact that such a thing sort of fitted the Doctor’s peculiar MO. But with a shrug, he brushed off his thoughts, and he resumed his fiddling.
A few moments passed, and a small spark flicked out against Req.
“Son of a….”
Just as -
“Oh, I bumped into her on the street. Literally.”
Calum chuckled
“We got to talking, and she took me to the TARDIS. the rest is history.”

He followed Calum. The two pressed down something of a squat and relatively dark corridor which forced the old man to constantly bend slightly. He wouldn’t mention it aloud, but his back was in so much dam pain.
Then something caught his eye.
“Ey! Hold up.”
He shrugged, deciding to press on. “I’ll go until I can’t anymore.”

“Probably. Well. Unless the roof finally caves in or something…”
He shrugged.
“…but I don’t think it’s a trap or something if that’s what you mean.”
He shrugged, deciding to press on. “I’ll go until I can’t anymore.”
But hey. It was better than nothing.
“Doesn’t look like there’s much to see. This place is a relic. Either these Sontarans are ancient or they just didn’t need this place no more.”
He shrugged.
He felt ‘suicidal’ was probably a better word for what this was. Still, he couldn’t deny that was he intrigued by it all.
“Well. There’s a door right there, so.”
He grabbed the sonic again.
“Shall we…?”
And he was the curious sort. Sontarans were a force to be reckoned with— why would they just abandon a perfectly good base?
“Besides, it gives us something to do, doesn’t it?”
He carries the stain of old sins.
Together they walk the line between survival and vengeance.
Blood remembers.
Loyalty binds.
And when the past comes calling, they answer with fire.

Calum hadn’t seen To’Ra in a while, so he decided to stop by her quarters. Knocking on the door, he calls: “it’s Calum!”

He kept walking. Eyes gently looking around at the scene. There wasn’t any clear sign of fighting or anything of the sort.
The base was simply abandoned.
“Maybe. We’ll see. What’s it matter to you anyway? You just want a ride home.”
He shrugged and hopped down onto the ground.
“Doesn’t look like it’ll ever work again,” Calum murmured and walked behind Req.
“Do you think this place could be of use?”

He followed behind the human.
“Do you always walk right into high-powered weaponry or…?”
Grabbing his sonic, Req pointed it at the turret and scanned over it. The thing was complete offline and not likely to be useful again without some extensive repairs.
“No power. Rusted. Half -
“These don’t just look disused, they look totally abandoned.”
He went over to the turrets to examine them

He looked up and around. He couldn’t help but frown at his own lack of knowledge. It was claimed differences between the realities were an inevitability.
Though he didn’t take that to mean an entire species.
“Can’t say I’ve heard of them.”
Trying to avoid needing -

He went to a wall and examined it. The shortness of the buildings added up.
“Could be sontaran. They’re short little potatoes that live for war, so the turrets—
He sort of felt the same way. Though he couldn’t let himself die. Not until his work was over.
“I see it.”
The pair walked some more and they soon found themselves standing outside of some shattered fortifications. A few old walls, a rundown entry-point, and -
He shrugged. It wasn’t like his life mattered in the grand scheme of things. Sure, he had his band, but he was certain he wouldn’t be missed.
“I think I see something, up ahead.”

Of course, he’s talking about his own Doctor here. But he can’t imagine they’re much different.
Though talking about the Doctor brought back some rather painful memories for the old man.
“You never worried -
“She intrigued me. Plus I’ve always had that sense of adventure, y’know?”
That got a smile out of him. He truly enjoyed his time with the Doctor.
“And— Glasgow is my home. Of course I’m going tae like it!”

Aberdeen…? Eh. He’s not sure. It’s been a few dozen lifetimes since he’s actually set foot on Earth.
“And you’ve been with her ever since huh?”
“She was in Glasgow. Odd because she’s not usually there, but hey, runaway.”

He immediately set-off. His stride was pretty slow compared to the running around Calum’s probably accustomed to, but hey.
He’s old.
An awkward silence lingers for a while as they move. He’s not exactly used to holding a long conversation.
But even he can -
Calum seemed almost giddy for the adventure. Bless him.
“Which direction are they in?”

He pocketed the sonic.
“Wanna take a look?”
“What does it say?”

“What does it say?”
He grabbed his sonic screwdriver, and immediately began to scan. The device pointed to the sky, with a gentle whirling sound echoing.
“No active tech nearby. Might just be critters and the…”
The sonic began to ping.

Calum was on guard. Something seemed off about this eerily quiet land. He started to examine a plant.
“What kind of life do you think lives here?”

“What kind of life do you think lives here?”
He looked around. It was quiet. Well—aside from the sound of wind, some distant animal noises, and even the gentle drifting of water.
“There ain’t something shooting at us or ending the world.”
Said the old man who was VERY much hoping he didn’t jinx things.
Although he had to admit it was a little too hot for him.
“Not bad indeed,” he replied, although he knew the reclaimer wasn’t talking to him

It was almost a mutter under his breath—but still loud enough for Calum to hear.
