1) The decision to seek reelection was very obviously the wrong one, and indeed I'd say catastrophically so. *At the time* it may have been defensible but with the benefit of hindsight, it was a terrible mistake.

I don't understand this framing. In what sense did the Trump tariffs "work"? Colombia was accepting (commercial) flights of deportees before Trump got into office, without issue. We're basically back to the status quo. apnews.com/article/trum...
