My reflections on the information dynamics of the bridge crisis: Crisis events become opportunities for political point-scoring and spreading conspiracy theories. This has likely always been true, but this dynamic is incentivized and reinforced by the design/evolution of our information systems.

I'm less worried about AI stealing our jobs than I am about it being used to develop weapons of war. Humans are really good at taking resources/tools and turning them into weapons of war.

The "ah ha, I knew it!" bit is sooooo satisfying. Everything falls into place and it can feel like Providence.

I think I remember @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com talking about how, when he found out about the sleeping sickness that lasted about 100 years and no one knew why...

The intimidating part of research = actually going about looking, searching and reading up.

The invigorating part = When things synchronize and you go "Ah ha, I knew it!"

That I keep going back to Mazu, goddess of the sea - and it's part of my heritage as a Hokkien Chinese.
