I just published the most personal thing I’ve ever written.

The High Cost of Saying No: Why I Can’t Stop Talking About Housing.

It’s about Atlanta and San Francisco, growth, and grief.

And the decisions that shaped my marriage, my loss, and everything after www.dataandpolitics.net/the-high-cos...
The High Cost of Saying No: Why I Can't Stop Talking About Housing
Atlanta isn't just building structures. It is filling them with life. Meanwhile, in San Francisco, we keep fighting over everything except how to make room for each other. Cities, like lives, are made...

DOGE is hurting working people, plain and simple.

Federal workers are members of our communities who work hard for this country, but right now they are in fear for their jobs. It’s not right.

These are some of their stories.

The average Fox News viewer has no idea that Musk is tearing down a system that allowed this country to rule the world for the past 75 years. And when their standard of living slips dramatically in the next five years they still won’t understand because their TV will blame it on some poor scapegoat.

Update on my life: Last year, I joined my kids' school's PTA, because they needed a treasurer and I'm good enough with numbers. It was a straightforward, self-contained job: balancing the checkbook for an organization that only did a few fundraisers each year.

Call us crazy, but we think gutting nutrition assistance for children while gifting the richest man in the world an extra $66 million a year is bad business.

Hell, every story on DOGE needs to start with "DOGE is cutting rounding errors in the federal budget, while at the same time the Trump administration plans to pile on trillions of dollars of debt via tax cuts to people like Musk."
Elon Musk does not give a single shit about how much money the government spends. Everything he is doing is to reduce its power to regulate all his shit-ass businesses. This should be in the first paragraph of any story about it.

Exactly the fight we need to have and excellent branding. Do we want to a government that helps families thrive or fund more massive tax cuts for billionaires?
The stakes of the 2025 tax fight couldn’t be higher. Republicans want to give massive tax breaks to billionaires by jacking up costs on hardworking families.

We’re the campaign that’s going to stop them 🧵
