I ordered a Happy Meal with a "Disneyland 70 toy."

Instead, my Happy Meal had this Tiny Tan BTS toy from September.

I went to the counter and explained this is the wrong toy.

The employee tried telling me this IS a Disney toy.

I nearly fell over in shock.

I'm not a fan of streaks in apps or in life. It puts too much anxiety into keeping something artificial alive. But this year, I will break my streak of listening to at least one song every day for 8 days. Should be simple enough.

Did donuts with my bicycle in the detention pond by Glen Ellyn's YMCA. My tracks made the most pleasing crunching sound.

Found a magic wand on the sidewalk.

Not sure if this was part of someone's Christmas decorations. Or if it flew out of someone's garbage can (today is garbage pickup day)

A new year means a new "Discovered" playlist to capture all the new (and rediscovered) songs I want to save.

Only three days into the new year, and Spotify has gotten off to a great start with these six songs.

I'll be adding to this playlist all year. open.spotify.com/playlist/0jM...

The best font management system for the Mac, FontExplorer X Pro, stopped development in 2022. I used it for over ten years.

Now I finally need a new font management program. I bought Typeface 4.2. Hopefully, this will work.

I wore my Team USA Olympics 2026 pin to the free skate at Glen Ellyn's Center Ice of DuPage.

People might have thought an Olympian was on the ice, but it was just some dude skating for his second time in the past 30 years.

I'm still using the iOS app Swarm (formerly known as Foursquare). I have fun with the app, leaving comments about where I go. But my year-in-review summary is pretty boring. app.foursquare.com/share/user/2...

Whenever I write a new out-of-office message, I always add it to my list of previous messages. The archive is stored in the comments of my blog post.

I google: out of office spudart

Today, I got an AI result which was like, oh, wow, this is quite descriptive.

Has anyone ever heard of a song, "Ho, ho, ho is the very, very laugh of Santa Claus"?

Siri (Shazam) couldn't recognize the song. The lyrics don't exist anywhere online... until now. www.spudart.org/blog/ho-ho-h... (Included in this blog post is a rough recording of this super-rare Christmas song).
Ho, ho, ho is the very, very laugh of Santa Claus - Spudart
I’m trying to identify a Christmas song from a CD mixtape I made in 2007. Siri, Shazam, and Google all came up empty. So I posted the lyrics and a rough recording. Deep-voiced Santa mystery.

Ten years ago today, I mashed up Star Wars with modern art from the Art Institute of Chicago—pairing Warhol, Richter, Johns, and more with a galaxy far, far away. www.spudart.org/blog/star-wa...

Channeling my inner Calvin & Hobbes while waiting to pick up my daughter at school.

When the students came out, they absolutely loved this. I had a crowd of kids around me wanting to add more snowmen. #tinysnowman

It always amazes me how I never heard of so many songs—even from artists I like.

Here's a 2007 remix by Norman Cook ( aka Fatboy Slim) of "You've Got to"

I order at Taco Bell under the name “Megatron X.”

Today a pair of older women tried to take my tray. I pointed to the tag and said, “This order is for Megatron.”

With almost no bike racks on Roosevelt Rd, I lock up at Dreisilker’s fence next to Taco Bell. Evergreen canopy, zero judgment. Winter biking improvisation.

After seeing this image of a man standing in front of the all-black painting by Clyfford Still, I want to make my own all-black painting. I think that would be fun to paint.
We were happy to visit The Art Institute while we were in Chicago. There is so much to see! We could spend a week in Chicago just going to The Art Institute every day.

Glen Ellyn has no alleys—except this one glorious Walgreens-to-Taco-Bell alley that I bike through. A true alley sighting in the suburbs.
