When someone on the Internet tells me that Western tradition is dying, I (1) look up academic presses to see how many books on Augustine are being published this year, (2) go outside and throw a rock and see if it hits something Western tradition made. “Hm,” I think, wondering what death is again.

Facebook reminded me about when I went to a small-town Pride picnic with our local churches...

... *before* I was out.

My denomination drives me nuts sometimes, but I'll say: I'm grateful that I ALWAYS knew the one community that *would* receive me in full was Jesus' church.

Sorry to hear the sad news of Brueggemann’s death. His voice is always in my head when I’m preparing to preach.
Birthday wishes from Walter Brueggemann yesterday was a pretty amazing gift. Thankful for thoughtful colleagues.

Did a funeral today—awful circumstances.

But I was steeled by this view: the cemetery gates were busted open in a recent storm.

This is deeply sad news.

I was privileged to get to know David in his seminar on “The Theology of Luther and Calvin”—more appropriately titled “Pure Protestantism According to David Demson.”

I loved every minute of it.
