I realized where that aversion comes from. It's like, this thing here on the ground LOOKS like a bird, looks like an opossum, looks like a cat, but it's NOT. It's... stuff, you know? There's no being there. There's simulacra. There's uncanny valley.

Fun fact about me: I have a phobia of dead things. I've had a panic attack seeing road kill before. It's not so much the "grossness" as they sneak up on me! I never see them until I'm right on top of them. I can get closer with foreknowledge, but the aversion is STRONG.

Officials with the Oregon Military Department say the deployment will cost federal taxpayers $3.8 million, and the troops expected to be assigned will come from Salem and Woodburn.

I wanted to share this funeral photography I captured in 2019 for a woman whose beloved Friesian mare had passed away. I still think about this experience often, it was such a privilege to be part of that moment. There was deep sadness, but also an incredible amount of love and even laughter.
