I received the results of my Masters module 10 and it’s a distinction, keeping me on track to hit distinction overall. I’m in the home stretch now, with just the dissertation to complete!

This picture is extremely powerful.

I borrowed it from one of my groups on FB. It was titled “war.”

It brings a tear to my eyes & a heaviness to my heart. It also makes me angry that our country is adding to his burden.

BAD ASS WOMEN OF HISTORY

Since the GOP wants to rid us of women’s history, I will highlight amazing women of history daily.

Today in 1918 an amazing female geneticist was born! She was a major innovator in cancer genetics.

The Baltic states Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have today fully decoupled their energy grid from Russia. At the moment they are running in an island mode, but starting tomorrow the energy grid will be reconnected with the European Union.

This is incredible - the decoding of a protein from a 3.5 million year old fossil hominin! This protein also permits determination of sex - which can be very difficult in fragmentary fossils, based on shape alone. Article by @killgrove.bsky.social:

In a 1st, ancient proteins reveal sex of human relative from 3.5 million years ago
Researchers have extracted ancient proteins from australopithecine fossils and determined whether they were male or female — a first for human evolution studies.

It’s a coup! Scarily similar to how Hitler invited German oligarchs into power. We cannot let history repeat itself.
We need to call out the blatant lie being pushed by the Trump administration—that Elon’s staffers have only “read-only” access. It has been confirmed across departments that they have “administrative” access to computer systems.

Research has led to many advances and should not be cut off just because an uneducated president thinks it’s worthless. He doesn’t have the knowledge to make an educated decision!
Amid today’s massive NIH cuts to universities, please know that my research colleagues:

- Develop new cancer treatments for kids
- Are curing sickle cell disease
- Build new tech to help premature babies survive
- Prevent teens from dying of drug overdose
- And more

Don’t comply in advance! Many of these executive orders are unconstitutional and will be stoped in law, if you comply now, you give it more power than it’s worth.
Trump is not a king and we need to stop treating him like one. We don’t have to listen to him. We don’t even have to respect him. Compliance in advance is giving him power he doesn’t deserve.

Keep chipping away. They're not invincible.

Time for a fresh start on social media, focusing on positive accounts and impressive people to follow. I’ve started with prof Alice Roberts and Lucy Worsley, and hoping to find Hannah Fry!
