Today I submitted my first (actually finished) short story to a competition. It's not the best thing I've ever written, but it's my first complete original piece, so I'm proud of it regardless.

Yeah, I would probably also not return to it. But that's still ok. Also if you have other books that you are really eager to read now and this one isn't appealing, it's fine to DNF. If it's like a couple hours to finish it, then maybe just stick with it? But it's another 10 hours... DNF for sure

I had one of these too. Really popular one and if it wasn't an audiobook I would have DNF'ed it cause it was just so bad. My rule is 30% or about 100-150 pages in. But I think it's fine to DNF at any point. Or you can pause it to read something else and come back to it?

That said I called both my surgery and 111 for advice and I was told to take paracetamol and ibuprofen and give it a few days. It hurts a little less today (day 3), but I know if I do moving and handling at work I'll only make it worse again.

Last Sunday I injured my shoulder at work and now I am missing work because I literally cannot do my job if I can't use my arm (and it really hurts) and my brain is catastrophizing really bad.
