alphabetically, but treating solo works like band names. for instance, Fiona Apple is under F. this is my partner's doing and we respect each other's 'tisms.
we also separate jazz/world music/etc, because i worked in a "record store" once (music department @ Borders) and this is the way.

Alphabetically by artist? Chronologically by release date? Biographically by the date you added each record to your collection?
By genre? By album artwork/spine color? Another method we're not even thinking of?
