He busied himself with locking the bike, but a tiny gasp let him know that Soap had turned back around. “Wow.” Soap’s hand hovered in the empty space between them. The summer evening light gave Soap a golden glow, and Ghost couldn’t believe that Soap was here with him. “Wow” seemed better directed towards him. Ghost started to run his fingers over one of the more prominent scars on his chin, but aborted the gesture to tame a few stray curls by his ear. Soap’s hovering hand reached up to help. “This okay?” he asked softly, looking around at the few passers-by. Ghost nodded. “I’m just Simon out here.” “Just,” Soap scoffed, cupping Ghost’s cheek. “Jesus Christ.”

happy new year everyone! <3
a label reads 23:56 december 31 (new years eve) the 141 are outside somewhere to celebrate. there are already fireworks going off, a few popping off. A speech bubble says "pfft not even 12 yet" - price. Soap winces and looking a bit distressed. ".. the year we've had, im ready for it to end too" - gaz. This frame Soap turns around and starts stuffing his ears with his headphones, walking off. Ghost with his cup of bourbon probably notices and turns to look at the distressed mohawk man start walking off. soap has made it back to his disgustingly empty room (im sorry i didn't feel like drawing more of the bg) the clock on his window reads 23:59, and he's sitting on the bed with his hands over his ears saying "fuck, get it together mactavish". He's sitting there covering his ears when the door creaks open and he looks up to see his giant fucking LT standing at the door looking at him with worried eyeballs. Then soap starts rambling "I-uh- I'm okay jus- Ye should get back-" Then a frame of Ghost pulling his mask off, and Soap is like woah what. "Wha are ye doing?!" He asks. But before Soap can spend too much time oggling the glorious face of simon riley it turns 00:00 NEW YEARS WOOH but that also means BANG BANMG POP POP all the fireworks in the vicinity are going off like popcorn and Soap clutches his head and winces. The next frame shows Ghost kneeling at the edge of bed, Soap his covering his ears curled into a ball and his headphones are strewn on his leg. Final frame, is Ghost who picks up the headphones and is offering it to a teary eyed Soap. Simon moves Soap's hands out of the way and puts the earbuds into Soap's ears, because he is caring and loving and HE UNDERSTANDS YAKNOW. Soap is blushing his ass off cause WHAT LT THIS FORM OF CARING IS SO FJKDASFJAL anyways. The next frame he gets love aggression and grabs his blonde fucking LT and kisses the man (its probably still midnight so new years kiss yay) Final frame is Ghost scooching up a little on his old man knees to properly kiss his man. They're sharing a tender new years smooth while soap still has the earbuds in his ears (is he listening to kk slider we'll never know)

"J'nny?" "Yeah, Ghost, I'm here." "Fuck'rs sho' me, J'nny." Soap huffed out a half-panicked laugh as he turned Ghost over. The hazy look in his normally sharp eyes sent another surge of adrenaline through Soap as he hastily pulled off Ghost's vest and ripped his shirt open to find the wound. He bit his lip hard to hold back the gasp when the messy hole in his side came into view. "I can see tha'. Gonna stay awake for me while I treat this?" "Yeah. Do anythin' f'r you, J'nny." The words sent Soap's heart racing even as a lump formed in his throat when Ghost didn't even flinch as Soap packed the wound with as much hemostatic gauze as he could find between the two of them and then pressed down. The sounds of gunfire had tapered off, but Soap didn't dare lift the pressure to go check the door. In his ear, Gaz and Price murmured back and forth as they cleared the building. Seven minutes to evac.

Aspiration HigherMagic Summary: Simon loves his job. He loves being the first line of defense on the worst day of people's lives, his extensive background in some of the most Hellish pits of the world giving him a level head and the ability to quickly triage and reassure, get people where they need to go so that they can be saved. The wail of incoming sirens is his new background of gunfire, the rush of people around him feels more like home than anywhere else. The scent of blood and the beeping of machines keeping someone clinging to life before the doctors get their hands on them is familiar as a heartbeat. People have a much better chance of survival in the hospital than they do in the field. At least, when Simon's at the helm. The only dark mark in his job is MacTavish.

The eye contact is settling, a little - seeing Ghost's eyes focus on him is reassuring, tells Soap that Ghost is with him at least. He forces a smile. "What's goin' on in that pretty little head, huh?" He means it to tease, hopes it'll make Ghost roll his eyes, scoff and shove at him, as he always has when Soap turns flirty and intimate. Ghost's boundaries are well-known and well-respected - he likes the social play of it all, comfortable in platonic submission that lets Gaz and Soap and Price needle at him, seek reassurance that he's their steadfast and constant foundation, but pulls a hard and fast stop when it progresses too far. Soap expects to hit that wall, to get a little snark and be dismissed as a worrying mother hen. But Ghost just stares up at him, unblinking, his eyes unbearably warm, cheeks flushed along the edges of his mask. Soap frowns, reaches out to put the back of his hand on Ghost's forehead. Ghost's lashes flutter weakly. "Think I'm droppin'," Ghost mutters, leaning into the touch.
