Jak 2 is one of my favorite games but I completely understand why some fans of the first one don't like it and I can't even be bothered about it, the only thing that bothers me is people calling it Renegade or calling Sly Cooper "Sly Raccoon" like you're fucked in the head doing that

I don’t think I can say this forcefully enough: hundreds of thousands of Haitians will lose status tomorrow with racist ending of their TPS & are spending today refreshing their feeds for a court order that could literally save thier lives.

i loved the DQVII reimagined demo but they went too far with QOL “improvements”. these changes and item bag being gone take away what made DQ different.
I've been playing the Dragon Quest VII remake and while it's lovely to look at, the lack of challenge is a problem. Dead party members revive after battles, there are healing statues before every boss, and you restore HP on level-ups (unlike DQ1-3 HD, you can't toggle this off). No friction at all

it's a sad casualty of a very locked down controller ecosystem (among other things) that games basically don't come with goofy peripherals anymore to support unique experiences
not all of them were good but there's no ps5 controller that has a spinner on it so clearly something is wrong

I didn't mind the bad ending in Koudelka being the canon one since it was objectively better than the good ending (???) and that final boss was way too much trouble to beat, but I did go through the effort of getting the good ending in Shadow Hearts and it not being canon makes me angry 💢

Maybe this is a hot take but I've been discovering a lot of interesting puzzles in old Japanese games that rely on knowledge of the Japanese language or culture and I really appreciate that stuff and I think it's sad that a lot of it has been toned down for modern games to make translation easier
