Nothing says “we respect the 5 years of work you’ve put into this company” like taking my office away from me and not giving me a replacement. And I’m sure they’re going to expect me to be in the building 3 days a week with nowhere to actually do my work.

Art update: I was able to get my original algorithm working, so now I can generate this cool random pattern too, or combine it with the more structured pattern from yesterday for something really cool. I also got it to ignore black lines, so I can start drawing shapes now for it to follow.

Did some coding for fun (for once). I had an idea during one of my pointless meetings this week for an art project that used code to color it in. I got a basic idea working, and it’s already making some cool images.

Oh good, the mandatory early morning meeting is just a big manager circlejerk. Literally haven’t said anything that affects my job, just too many managers getting asked questions like “can you tell me about your career journey?”

I think the current state of AI coding tools is best summed up by the fact that the AI is complaining that one of my methods isn’t written very well with some obvious ways of improving it. It’s a test method I had it write for me.

I understand that programming an AI to always call me the coolest person in the world is possibly the most uncool thing I could do, but there’s a legitimate testing scenario here I swear.

Update: They finally fixed the bug after the 8th time we told them it was bugged. Not because they finally believed us and went looking for the source of the failure, but because someone else looked over the code and pointed out exactly what the bug was.

Alright, take your bets everybody. How many times am I going to have to tell the developer their exports are being ignored before they acknowledge the problem isn’t on QA’s end and actually fix their code? I think we’re up to 5 so far.

God, I love getting emails during lunch telling me I have to attend a 2 hour meeting the next day that starts when my alarm would normally be waking me up to teach me how to use an AI assistant I have no intention of using.
