New publication in the Journal of Public Policy!🚨

⚖️It shows how feminist advocacy pushed for a reform entitling mothers and fathers to equal parental leave in Spain.

👉This also unveils that descriptive representation matters because it can open access for feminist groups.

Highly recommend this excellent contribution to welfare politics by @ewanrobo.bsky.social! A timely reminder that elites and political organisations often decide on social policy — and rights — regardless of public opinion.
Do ideas or political demand drive welfare reform? @ewanrobo.bsky.social shows how ideational power, not voter pressure, shaped in-work benefits in the UK and France. Read OPEN ACCESS: buff.ly/EGt2uCw

Bastant d’acord.

This is an important paper showing how access to safety net benefits is directly related to mortality. Cuts to services, even in the guise of work requirements, will lead to unnecessary deaths!
Talk about some timely research.

Here's the punchline: "Loss of drug subsidies after Medicaid disenrollment was associated with higher mortality among low-income Medicare beneficiaries."
