This is an excellent comment by @giorgio.gilest.ro on the emerging possibility of AI peer review
“The noise in human peer reviews is crucial because it arises from the variability in human experience and practical knowledge — two features that no model’s training corpus can fully capture,” writes Giorgio F. Gilestro in Nature about the introduction of AI peer reviews. #Academicsky 🧪
AI reviewers are here — we are not ready
Artificial intelligence promises rapid and polite feedback on papers — but we must first review the reviewer.

This is just such a great initiative! And I just got my first tree 🌳 at #ForestofBiologists @biologists.bsky.social
In our Forest of Biologists we fund the restoration and preservation of ancient woodland and dedicate these trees to our peer reviewers.

There are now over 10,000 trees for peer reviews!

Thank you to all our peer reviewers. Find out more:

What an adventure the last 2 weeks have been! We were selected for the semi-finals and made it to the final of #simfonies_ciencia! We didn't win the final, but we won much more than that. This competition gave us the opportunity to present our project twice in front of very varied audiences (1/2)
We went to the Simfonies de Ciencia @comunicacioaccc.bsky.social final, @sofiajaraujo.bsky.social and Laia de la Torre, and we got a prize!! It was a great experience and we are very pleased and happy to have participated! Always searching for new ways to take #scienceinsociety #SciArt

The #SEBD fully supports the request for emergency funding by the European #Drosophila genetics database and encourages its members to help this important database #FlyBase @flybase.bsky.social
#Drosophila @flybase.bsky.social requires emergency funding:
"As it stands, by the end of July, 2025, there will be no future updates to #FlyBase, and in the worst case scenario access to the website will also be lost". Please help if you can!
We currently have a call for support that has gone out to European labs, to support FlyBase-UK. We are asking our colleagues from labs in the US and other countries to wait for a similar call to them that will go out in the near future, to support the US sites. We thank you for your patience.

URGENT: FlyBase has lost practically all its funding overnight; even user fees are tied up in denied grant funding. 🤬🤯

Any lab using @flybase.bsky.social please donate using the link in post below.

This incredible community, on whose backs our #Drosophila labs depend, can't be left out to dry.
