Things I like: democracy, rule of law, balance of powers, checks and balances.
Things I don’t like: political grifting and corruption. Oh, and when there are attempts to try and overturn the things I like
Mandatory country labels on X o_O sounds like a bad idea. Definitely not really gonna promote free speech

I still don’t understand why people voted for him. I guess they were probably tricked into thinking things were “so horrible” when they really weren’t. Now we’re going to be backwards for a few years and it’ll take several years to undo all the damage he’s done…

Worst President, worst Speaker. To be Speaker and to be so cucked as to give the executive branch’s leader your gavel is so pathetic. apnews.com/article/trum...
With gavel in hand, Trump chisels away at the power of a compliant Congress
When House Speaker Mike Johnson gifted to President Donald Trump the gavel used to enact the Republicans' tax breaks and spending bill, it was a memorable moment at the White House.

To all the Brazilians on here: we don’t hate you. We don’t want the ridiculous tariffs on your country. A majority of what the felonsident does is not what we want.

He’s trying to be on team Trump after Trump threatened him with life in prison I guess lol. Bc let’s be real: the Biden admin bothered meta during covid in order to get more people to take the vaccine for public safety, rather than encourage the anti-vaxers

He leaves behind a bad legacy. Most notably power plays such as the crooked denying Garland’s Supreme Court nomination by Obama, yet allowing Trump’s court pick(s). He also had led us to people worse than him. www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/1/...
Mitch McConnell’s legacy: A ‘grim reaper’ for US bipartisanship?
McConnell is set to step down as the longest-serving Senate leader. Experts say he made the chamber into a battlefield.

More than 75 Nobel Prize winners have signed a letter urging senators not to confirm RFK Jr.

The letter marks the first time in recent memory that Nobel laureates have banded together against a Cabinet choice. But Kennedy is a threat they could not ignore, one said. www.nytimes.com/2024/12/09/h...
Nobel Laureates Urge Senate to Turn Down Kennedy’s Nomination
Elevating Mr. Kennedy to secretary of H.H.S. “would put the public’s health in jeopardy,” more than 75 laureates wrote.

I logged into x, and i saw a bunch of stuff pertaining to Syria. Much of it Turkish nationalists cheering and the Turkish flag everywhere. I am not sure whether the new gov will be as compromising as it says it will be.

That’s a criticism I have of the administration we’ve had. Back when the democrats had more control, it would’ve been good if they tried harder at trying to do it but, at the same time, some say an amendment would be necessary to add term limits to the court
December 7, 2024 at 7:55 PM
Totally agree. It would be nice if someone actually Did successfully pass a term limits bill for the Supreme Court.
I support the bill, but condemn performative legislation.
Two senators have introduced a constitutional amendment that would establish term limits for Supreme Court justices, a long-shot escalation of the congressional effort to overhaul the nation’s highest court amid ethics scandals and sinking public approval.

The most frustrating thing is trying to get propaganda out of the mind of someone you love. I tried getting them to understand their gov & X has been feeding them hate but I’ve tried & tried and it just feels futile.
