just woke up from a dream where the "switch 2 pro controller" was a plastic shell that you put a pair of joycons into then inserted swappable rubber buttons into so you could use custom abxy layouts (like the gamecube layout). the rubber would press into the real buttons on the joycons. it was awful

can you use the steam api to see if someone owns a different game than the one you're actually developing. i want to know if someday far in the future i can pull a psycho mantis and go "You like PYRAMIS, don't you?"

im makin a particle shader :) right now it's purely for my own use but maybe i can share it if anyone would find it helpful!!

one thing i meant to mention is that i can't really make different blending modes a parameter afaik, you have to change that in the shader code manually. but yea : )

default godot material doesn't allow you to use particle animation frames without billboarding, you have to use both... but if you convert the material into a shader you can just delete the billboard code and enjoy your particle animations. thought i'd mention since it might be useful to someone

every time i play a sakurai game it inspires me to basically copy the way the particles/hitsparks/vfx are done in them... here's a kind of obvious example of what i mean lol

Question for any Godot VFX / shader guys...

Do you see how these billboards always point towards Starman? I noticed Smash Bros. does this a lot too. Are there any shaders or other ways to get it to look like this? Or is there a default material setting that does this and I overlooked it?

last night i thought i came up with a cool innovative control scheme for shooter games, and then i checked online and found out that it already exists almost exactly as i imagined it and it's called Flick Stick. lol

its creator seems to really encourage every other dev to implement it tho, so...!
