I think a significant thing that happens in a lot of people's 40s is going "actually I want to start doing what I want now and I'm not going to wait for some point in the future when I've "arrived" to start doing those things."

Is self knowledge a vital ingredient of being a good teacher?

Do we have to understand our own motivations, fears and doubts in order to fully understand how to be more effective, especially in improving our emotional intelligence?
