Just a bit longer, friends 🌱

Tomatoes 🌱

Happy greens 🌱

Salad bar 🌱
A diy raised garden in the fall. Green lettuce, cabbages, and herbs thrive despite some cabbage worm and slug damage. A gray deck, leafless trees and a running dog are in the background. There is metal hoop (old box spring wire) above the plants for draping frost cloth when necessary.

Since I can't exactly grow flowers in the winter, I've decided to make them from paper lol
A 1/12 scale miniature terracotta pot of purple irises made with paper and wire. The plant is held by a pair of needle point tweezers. I am very new to this hobby so they aren't perfect!

Today's pride and joy 🌱
A mega scarlet runner bean in it's split, brown pod. It is lying amongst pine needles and fallen leaves. It is pitch black and pepto pink. The same bean indoors held in the palm of a wind-burned hand. It's pink and black mottled skin is delightful in the natural light (the bean, not the hand).

Cooler weather has really brought out the deep hues of this season's very last tomatoes.
A stalled and heavily pruned blueberry cream tomato plant completing its final mission. The tomatoes are small with purple-black hues and a creamy yellow-green. That last part isn't appetizing but I assure you they will be tasty. Princess of gothic tomatoes roughly shaped like fat peppers on a heavily pruned vine. They are a deep purple, almost black. One of my favorite varieties for visuals and taste.

Neighbor cat found the catmint 🌱
A calico cat rolling on a volunteer catmint plant (unseen) that popped up amongst fluffy green yarrow plants. A fallen canna lily and a makeshift stone wall are in the background. The same scene but a different angle. The cat's posture reveal that it is experiencing mild euphoria as one does when rolling in catmint for several minutes.

Newfound appreciation for marigolds. I've not paid them much attention until this season but with their ability to repel "pests", vibrant hues and pleasant but potent aroma, I'm hooked 🌱
A rather large and vibrant orange marigold. I believe it is an African marigold. Layers upon layers of petals encase a dark and barely visible center.

You can be damaged and still be beautiful 🌱
A small cluster of blanket flowers (I think these are Gaillardia pulchella) with vibrant red petals tipped in golden yellow. Several of them lost petals to heavy storms, insect bites and time.
