Sharing a fun little toy mac app I made: Glass Toy.

It came out of some Liquid Glass experimental dev work.

Drag in some background image and add glass shapes and text.

It's an early version and it's free. You can get it from: suntreeapps.com/toys

Would love to see what you make with it.

There is still so much low hanging design and usability work in software that doesn't require scorching the earth to run foundation models at scale.

AI is great and all, but its 2026 and every time I see a date and time on the web its not automatically localised for my current time zone.

No cute little control for me to see it in local time or as it was published.

Nothing.

Mentally struggling to do a deload week because you have feelings about not going so hard for a WHOLE 😅😉 week?

Reframe it as a Reload Week.

Focus on the outcome you’ll get and the future benefits.

It's worked wonders for me.

I keep seeing the idea of ego-depletion ("willpower runs out") being stated like its a fact. The key experiments didn't replicate - the idea simply doesn't hold up.

Why do I care? Because what you think and believe about willpower will affect your behaviour.

Conflicted about the @zed.dev editor. The editor is great but the fact it has its own custom UI stuff going on means that a lot of the default Mac app affordances are not there.
Papercuts in the user experience - disproportionately annoying.

Software is hard.

Discussing how Rust devs like to disentangle distinct guarantees and requirements into distinct APIs, and how that's playing out in the Linux kernel.

What if technology didn’t feel so… hollow?

Some friends and I just released a manifesto about a world where tech leaves us feeling nourished (along with an evolving list of theses about how we can build it)
