Boone and Romy look up at Les in a panel framed between his legs. Romy waves in a friendly way, but Boone grimaces slightly, "Ah. Hey, Les." Lester points to them accusingly. "Didn't ya see the sign? It says 'No Trespassin'. *hic*." Boone looks over at a sign behind him that says "Yield" with a walking pedestrian on it. He looks back at Les. "It says 'Yield to Pedestrians'." Lester looks genuinely shocked. "HEH?!" He walks off drunkenly. ".... so it seems. Guess yer off the hook then. But only for today."

Echo cracks open a soda that says Diet O: Bloody Good! She, Romy and Boone are then seen sitting at a round table, playing a card game. Romy is sitting next to a silly looking cactus with a face on it. Echo, boredly: "Okay... your turn, Boone." Romy looks down at the cards in their paws and starts sweating. 'Oh, geez. I'm still not sure I understand the rules of this game. But it's kinda too late to ask for clarification. Right?" The cards include characters such as Dark Blacktus, King Cactus, Protractus and Cutetus. 'L-let's see... these numbers have gotta mean something..." Boone concentrates on the cards in his hooves. "Hmmm..." He slams down a card that says 'Smacktus' featuring a cactus with boxing gloves. "Ah-HA! An old friend appears!" Echo: "Really... ? How is it that you always end up-" Boone smacks Echo in the face with the googly-eyed cactus, while Romy dodges out of the way. "HAH! Talk backtus, get SMACKTUS!!!"

Romy sits up on top of a pile of rubble. "Where are we? A pile of trash?" They put on their hat and make a sneaky self-deprecating comment, while Boone points at them angrily from a distance. "... I guess that's where I belong. Hah." He jabs a pointed finger at their nose. "HEY! What did I say about self-deprecating?" Romy, paws up, tail frazzled: "No deprecating? Sorry." Boone squints his eyes and bends down to their level. "And what did I say about apologizing?!" Romy, grinning widely and sheepishly and sweating a whole lot: "Uh." A voice interrupts them, and Lester's foot is seen standing above them on a taller pile of trash. "'EY! What's all that yappin'?"

Boone makes a goofy calculated face, like he wants to make a retort, but doesn't. He slumps down on a beanbag chair. "So ANYWAY... what do you guys wanna do now? Besides sleep?" Romy looks around nervously. "Oh, um... should we be... I dunno... working?" Echo approaches her. "When there's work to do, sure." She tilts her glasses downward and makes an unintentional cool/dramatic pose. "Until then, we wait. Some days, we'll get a job do to. Other days, we won't. You'll have to get used to having a lot of downtime." Boone's eyes light up. "Oh! I KNOW! Let's play Attacktus!" Echo waves her hand, amused. "Ooooooor we could play a game that's ACTUALLY fun. Less frivolous, like -" Boone smooshes his snout against hers. "Oh, we're playing it. And this 34 time champion is gonna kick your tail at it, too!"

Romy, Boone, Echo and Lester silently tread further down into cave, into the pitch dark. Lester runs into Boone. Les: "Hey! Quit shovin'!" Boone, "Well, sorrrreeeey! I can't see anything down here, let alone -" He starts panicking. "W-wait. Don't tell me I'm ACTUALLY blind. Is it just me?" Echo, sarcastically, "... yes, Boone. It's just you." Boone panics further. "... you're... not serious, are you?" Lester breaks out in laughter. "GAHAHA! Wow! You really are stupider than ya look!" Boone, annoyed, "Well, if we're all blind, you shouldn't be able to see how stupid I look! Check and mate!" Lester, confused, "Check... what? Is that a Parcheesy thing?" Echo's eyes squint in the dark. "... ! Hey. Is something glowing?" Boone's eyes wince from the light. "Oh! That might be ME! Hold on..." He shuffles around, then the rocky hallway is suddenly illuminated by a bell collar in Boone's hand (the same one he wore in the first book). "Awww, YEAH! It's my bell! I don't even remember packin' it..." Echo looks up, then responds flatly, "Huh. Alright. Go ahead and light the way, Rudolph." Romy cups their eyes to shield them from the bell's brightness. 'The bell... it GLOWS? Guess I never noticed it before.' They turn their attention to the compass in their paws. 'Now we should be able to use -' They bend down closer, eyes wide with confusion. 'Uh.' The face of the compass displays squiggly arrows darting out in all directions. Boone leans over Romy with his bell-light in hand. "Yo! Rom-ster! What's up? Got the coordinates on the ole comparoo?" Romy looks up at him nervously. "Errrrr..." Boone reaches out his hoof. "Here, lemme see -" The compass in Romy's paws suddenly bounces to life with a bright smiling face, causing Romy and Boone's faces to reel back in terror. "HOLA ESTUPIDOS!" Romy drops the compass to the ground, screaming. From the ground, the compass scolds her in turn. "!Maldita sea! Get a grip, perro! I was almost as cracked as you are right now!" Romy's heart turns cold, as they look down at the compass and shiver. "Inanimate objects... speaking to me..." They put their paws to their head in full-blown panic, while the other three look on, mildly confused. "AGAIN?!" Romy puts their paws over their eyes, remembering back to their nightmare in the first book with the anthropomorphic lamp and furniture that bullied them before. "Please don't tell me you're related to the lamp..." The compass gets up, now more anthropomorphized himself, the necklace of the compass now branching into a full body with arms and toony glove hands, which he uses to fix a purple bowtie around his neck. "Lamp? Pah. !Que insultante! You think I'm anything like that bobo?" He leans backward and gives his hand a wave. "I'm just here to have a little fun." He wraps an arm around Boone's neck and gets up close and personal with his face, to which Boone looks away. "You do like fun, don't you?" Boone: "Not when you say it like THAT." "Aha. !Si! El macho cabrio agrees with me." Boone blushes. "El macho? Mmm." The compass, aggravated and flailing his arms: "!Ey! !Enfocar! Let's stay on track!!!"

There's a pause as Boone and Romy enter the room, to a sleepy Echo hanging upside down from a pipe. She squints her eyes open. "Y'know, there are better ways of interrupting a bat nap." She grins a bit sardonically. "My personal favorite: Don't." She then yawns, as Romy waves up at her, and Boone looks between the two of them in shock. "But hey. Fancy seeing you here, New Girl. I forgot to introduce myself last night. Just call me Echo. Guess I'll be seeing you around more often." Boone gets dramatically teary-eyed. "Hold up! HOLD UP! You mean you guys've already met? And you didn't even TELL ME?!" He gives Romy a rough noogie on the head while Echo smirks from across the room. "Uh! Well... ! Guess what? Me 'n Romy are super close too! Best buddies, in fact! Isn't that right, kiddo?" Echo: "Mm-hm. Not sure I believe that, but okay."

Boone: "ehehehe YEAH!" Romy and Boone's legs start cycling so fast that they turn into big toony speed circles. Romy's eyes pop out of their sockets in shock! Boone starts rushing quickly, Romy behind him in a much more panicked state. Romy, with tears pouring from their eye. "OH - OH NO." The scene transitions to Echo outside of the gas station, still staring at the dispenser in a perplexed state. Boone and Romy then crash out the side of the building behind her, Boone yelling "WAHOOOOOOOO!". Echo's ears fly back from the wind but she is otherwise too focused to notice them.

Romy fantasizes about being friends with Boone, while he stands there smiling, arm slung around their shoulder. 'Friends, huh...?' In the fantasies, they're watching tv together, hiking, eating at a restaurant, and Boone's throwing a frisbee for Romy in the park. Back to the present, Boone shows Romy to a door labelled "staff only". Boone: "Movin' on! This is the break room. It's... where we spend most of our time. Many precious memories were made behind this very door!" He strides off down the hall, leaving Romy in front of the door. "Oh... ! Check this out, city dog. I'm gonna demonstrate how we do things back home in the country. Stand back 'n clear the way!" Romy looks over in surprise. Boone is posed at the other end of the hall, like he's about to charge at Romy full-force. "Hey, ROMY! You ready for this?" Romy, scared, "W-wait... ! What -" Boone rushes toward them, and Romy puts their paws up to protect themselves from a collision.

There's a transitionary panel of Echo pummeling snowballs at Boone while Romy gives her snowball ammo. Then it transitions to nighttime with Boone crashed asleep on the couch and Romy and Echo curled together in a blanket and listening to tunes on Romy's cellphone together. Echo: "Did you enjoy your first Slumbermas?" Romy, looking away shyly: ................. yeah. I did.~" 0she reaches over to -lep- Echo on the face with her tongue. Echo: "... whoa..." -blushes, then licks Romy back- Scene transitions to the outside of the Lost and Found building. "Merry Christmas, ya stinky dog..." Romy: "Thanks, Echo. You too~"

Part 2:

Regina puts a hand to her mouth with a heart and says "OH. <3" -pan to Boone and Romy in matching sweaters, Romy blushing and Boone leaning over to pull her close- Regina: "You two are ADORABLE together!" -Boone scratches beard mischeviously- "Oh... ! Speaking of adorable together..." -pan to a shot of the town as Boone walks Romy somewhere, past Dallas putting lights on the giant cactus and Regina presenting a sweater to Lester that says "Ha-ha-Hannukah!". Boone: "Romy! We should do see what Echo's up to. I think she was gonna try baking something. Every Slumbermas, she does something new... and I think that's what she was planning this year." Boone flexes in his sweater that says "corny": "ONWARDS!" -Boone and Romy walk together, Boone singing "It's beginning to look a lot like Slumbermas" as Romy follow him, wagging her tail. They're both singing together when they enter the kitchen, then stop, looking horrified. The pan reveals that Echo is embarrassingly scrubbing a bunch of overbaked flour from the counter from an exploding oven. Boone, from where he and Romy are standing in the doorway: "Uhhh, no offense, Echo... but this kitchen kinda looks like a field of war. A delicious war, buuuuuuuuuuuut -" Echo, looking miserable with flour hanging off her: "Ugghn... I KNOW." -she gestures to a recipe book for sugar cookies, mystified, "You'd think anyone who'd bother to write a cookbook would at least know how to bake cookies without EXPLODING everything. I mean... 50 grams of yeast?! What kind of serving size is THAT?" -Romy looks on in shock as Boone gives her a shifty eyed impish look, then badgers Romy knowingly- "Romy could help. She's worked at a bakery before. Haven't you, Romy?" Romy: "Uhhhh... !!!" Romy shrugs modestly. "W-well... It's been a while, but..." -Echo scritches Romy's head, while she blushes and smiles awkwardly- Echo: "Great! We'll make a good team, bakery girl. I trust your expertise more than anything I've learned from this..." -holds the cookbook up again- "... book-like object." -Boone is seen giving Romy the thumbs up to Romy before disappearing, and Romy finally realizes he had set sat her up with Echo intentionally- Romy: (thinking) Oh... ! (out loud) O-okay. That sounds fun. -Echo and Romy start rolling some dough and making cookies in the shapes of Echo and Boone-
