My friends Dan and Lisa helped me re-install the McKittrick Tar Pits marker for the Kern County Historical Society on Saturday. Kern County used to have Dire Wolves and Saber Tooth Cats! I haven't started my 20 year old Honda 2000i generator in 5 five years, started on first pull. amazing

My brush with fame: Robert Redford was standing on the front porch of WSU president Glen Terrell's house in the early 1980s. I was walking to class and took a short cut up the president's driveway. Robert was in his bathrobe with a cup of coffee, raised it and said good morning as I passed.

This might be the most random item - other then the clip to a 9 mm pistol - that I have found while walking the Streets of Bakersfield.

Our family was riding around in the truck yesterday and my 4 year old great nephew saw a porta-potty in the back of a delivery truck when he said, “Look! A toilet box!” Our new name for porta-potties.

I guess we can stop saying, “It’s just like 1930s in Germany!”

No, it’s 2025 in America.

My sisters and I were kids when our parents drove us to Idaho Falls, Idaho for my father’s high school reunion. While my parents attended the reunion on a Saturday night, my sisters and I walked from the hotel to a movie theater and watched the movie Jaws.

Last week I found a 9mm clip in a crosswalk. Today I found a fishing pole. I wonder what tomorrow’s tide will bring in.

The California central coast early in the morning. The only tracks on the beach were pelicans and seagulls. #california

Over the years, I have found some very random things while on a walk. But a 9 mm Ruger clip laying in the crosswalk? That’s a first. But then again, I live in Bakersfield….

Memorial Day and my wife’s birthday on the same day. I would have loved to have made her a cake and shared it with our daughter and grandson. I miss my Sargent.

With the Trump administration trying to distract and dodge from the #whiskeygate controversy, a reminder that a crossword puzzle, with codewords as answers, almost derailed the D-Day landings in France on June 6, 1944. Operational security matters.
Crossword Panic of 1944 - Historic UK
The planning of the D Day landings was almost complete - what could possibly go wrong?...

Available homemade #Philidelphiaeagles sign in an antique store in Cayucos, California. The attached tag alone makes the sign priceless.

Our first date was on Valentine’s Day 1987. Over the years, we celebrated by staying home and cooking. Sometimes we’d go out for dinner in early February and you’d look at me and say, “Does this count as Valentines dinner?” We’d both laugh. I wish you were here to celebrate today - and every day.
